Wow, I'm left speechless. Unfortunatly this will make Barbarian Invasion look positivly ugly by comparison the next time I play. That said, I WANT THIS GAME NOW!!!

Plus, with the starting year set at 1080 I just might get my wish to have the glorious Croatian banner flying high over the entire continent (and beyond!).

I guess the site really doesn't like hotlinking. Either that, or I'm going insane.

Anyways, it does look well worth buying, and I haven't even played the first yet.

Notice the fallen horses and riders: they are fully 3D objects now, cluttering the battlefield. From what I read, corpses will actually impede the movement of troops!!!!!! Holy shit!!!!!!!!

Could you use that as a advantage as a defender? use some heavy units, kill everything in one place, and use it as a primitive bunker for archers?

Don't get too worked up, those door-lickers will almost certainly be specialist, late-game units.

Mike, I can understand the first link in dealing with TW2. I definitely want that game but who the hell are those guys on the other links? Game developers?

The site doesn't like direct linking, apparantly.

Sweet! 10,000 men of heterogenous units + 250+ Unit Types + 21 Factions + Roman Family Tree + 500 years of conquering + DoW-esque Attack Animations = Pwnage.

What, did they hire Vin Diesel to design this game and Chuck Norris to program, or something?

Absolutely awesome.

And absolutely in need of upgrading. Both the keyboard to a drool-free one and the computer to non-shit.

I'm having a lot of trouble being exited. Probably something to do with the fact that if I get a MTW2 CD anywhere near my computer it will die a horrible death. The close-up graphics are so good, that if it was an RPG, without the massive battles, I still couldn't run it.

Can't wait for this. Luckily I have a stack of games I haven't played yet that will hopefully make the time go by faster. Hopefully it comes out some time this year.

Holy crud. Those Eastern generals. My goodness. I could forgo modern civilization, including its toilets, to get one of those. MTW2 has a level of artistic achivement - not just technical graphics - not seen in other TW games. And did it say something about fighting the Aztecs? And the bloody aprons ... oh a work of genius.

Excitement aside, MTW2 would be quite the disappointment if it didn't make battles more fundamentally interesting - definately slow them down a bit, improve the AI so that it can move a row of pikes in a line and defend its flanks. RTW was a gigantic step over MTW in terms of graphics, but in many respects MTW slower, more tactical approach still appeals to me.

Dammit. They work fast, it was just what, last week that I posted about Medieval II being confirmed?

Those screenshots are fucking beautiful. They're exactly how I'd imagine Medieval II to look like- to a fucking pixel.

That said- show me some Eastern Roman Empire troops, dammit!
Set in the most turbulent and bloody era in European history, Medieval 2: Total War will allow gamers to lead their armies across the battlefields of Europe and the Holy Land before discovering the Americas and doing battle with the fearsome Aztecs.
Say what? Checking the CA site, it's now 1080-1530; that's going to be awesome. The original was only 1096-1452.

Oh great. Now I'm going to have to postpone the next 5 years of my life.

On the plus side, Kingdom Of Heaven would suddenly be in my DVD collection, regardless of special edition or not.

Denmark
Spain

Milan
Venice
Papal States
Sicily
Poland
Russia
Hungary
Byzantium
The Turks
Egypt

It could be England beating the shit out of France only and I'd still bend over backwards to get that game (and a suitable GPU to run it).

IGN wrote:Religion certainly played a major role in the medieval period and subsequently the religious system in Medieval 2 has more depth than previous Total War games. One aspect of this involves the Priest characters you'll control on the Campaign Map. Priests can be used to spread your religion in their surrounding areas. However, they may turn heretic, in which case they fall under AI control and spread heresy instead, undermining the established religion. If you are deemed to have a problem with heresy in your lands, the Pope may send out an Inquisitor to deal with the situation. As well as reducing heresy, these characters may also denounce nearby characters, and have them tried and executed. Senior Catholic priests can become Cardinals, giving the player influence in the Papacy, and they can even get elected Pope, improving their original faction's standing with the Papal States.
Wow, that's just vicious! I can see this screwing with all sorts of plans. And when the Pope decides to have one of my generals wacked, I'll be marching on Rome. FUN!

You are aware that medieval Hungary and Poland were pretty big or is that your desire to play as the Bassarabs (Dracula etcetera) being expressed?

Now I've got to buy a new computer. There is no way my laptop is going to run that.
