I think I'm going to have to tone down teeks, by requiring a line of sight and/or range of 50 feet. No killing people over TV. An empath could make you wish you were dead, though.

And again, children won't have powers, only at around age 15, when they have hopefully SOME maturity. And kids won't be able to hide suddenly manifesting powers, what with screaming at a silent room to shut up

As depicted in Dark Genesis, which is where I assume you've taken this from, the first result would be, essentially, Civil War. Regardless of whether its first or third world.
My mate and I are speculating on a civil war/mass rioting occurring within the next few years in this country due to the general feeling and reactions going on in this country. And all that is caused by skin colour and religion, OK and a lot of PC Human Rights bullshit. Now you’re sticking telepaths into the mix. It would be chaos.
The racists such as the BNP would see/hear/create a situation which involved a Muslim or black person using telepathy and would instigate the idea that in order to be safe they must ALL be killed, whether teep or not.
On the other side of the fence, there extremists would be doing the same in order to protect themselves.
Ordinary people would become paranoid about having there pass codes and account numbers stolen. If someone does well in a test or card game, its because there a telepath. A politician turns out to be a teep, get rid of him, he's not safe. Etc. etc. etc.
Medical research, both legitimate and illegal, would be forced down the path of detecting these people and inhibiting there abilities.
Basically, it all comes down to Jealousy and Envy. Why should so and so be a telepath, he doesn't deserve it, it should be me.

WRT the Teeps. Are you following the B5 line with them as well, i.e., the vast majority are not really mentally stable. That was one of the points of the experiments with Ironheart. I think people are also overestimating the ability to use some of these powers. It would take a long time to learn to use them properly, and a concerted effort to create a learning program which works.
It would likely be even more so in the case of telekinesis. Think of it, you wake up one morning and objects randomly start flying around the room. How the hell are you supposed to know what’s causing it, how your doing it or how to control it. Controlling it to the point of crushing arteries or eyes is going to take a good while, and if your trying to hide for fear of being shot/hanged/tortured/whatever, when and where are you going to learn this control.

Eventually a Psi-Corps or some such may well form, but it will be a long time coming and much bloodshed. In the novel, the killing is only stopped because the Centauri turn up, we in real life would probably need an event of similar proportions.

I actually havn't read Dark Genesis, this was with regards to my own fiction works, which is why I included empaths as a separate group. Most Teeps are (reasonably) stable if they have the proper training or guidance, but the "wild" teeps would undoubtedly have trouble shutting out the voices.

Maybe TPs and TKs would be "quarantined" for a while until people figure out how to guide them/protect them.
