CIS Starfighter numbers

Post by apocolypse »

I've done some searching online and in the archives with no real results (although I may have missed something). I'm wondering if there have been any numbers given for the amount of Seperatist starfighters the ships can carry. I know that they can carry them within their hull cavities, but I haven't seen any numbers for the actual amounts in the ICS. Does anyone have any information on this, or know where I can find out more? Thanks.

I'm actualy reading 'Outbound Flight' right now, which says two Trade Federation Battleships carry almost 3000 starfighters between them. I'll let you know more after I finish reading about Thrawn vs this private army :)

Thanks Chris. By chance, does it give the type of ship? It was pointed out to me that the IH is actually detailed on fighter loadout (120 Vultures and 120 Tri-fighter with ground assault ships etc) but I didn't see anything on the Recusant or Munificent in the ICS. Maybe it was one of those two?

Edit: my bad. I just noticed that the Ep. 1 ICS has the Trade Fed control ship listed as having 1,500 fighters. Sounds like they might have been Lucrehulks instead.

Yes.

And they were both Lucrehulks.

Well the battle between Thrawn's flotila from the CEDF and Palpitines private army was...disapointing, to say the least. It's much less about Thrawns brilliance then cheap weapons that really don't make sense, poor design on the part of the trade federation....and an apparent complete lack of Zhan reading up on the abilities of Lucrehulks, such as the fact that have absurdly powerful shields...

The Recusants and Munificents don't have fighter loadouts listed because all they can do really is have fighters piggyback along or be sheltered from fire until needed, but can't actually support them with fuel, arms, or repair. Whereas, the IH and TFBBs can actually support and care for the fighters they carry. So while TFBBs and Providences can act as motherships and carry a specific number and are expected to service that many fighters, Recs and Munificents probably just haul along as many as can fit, and expect the carrier ships to take care of their fighters or use them up before they need mothership support since they're "just droids."

Right, which is all true. But the question is if there's any numbers derived from what they can potentially carry. Such as, a Recusant can potentially carry a max of X starfighters in their hull cavities. I don't think it's been covered before, and I'm trying to see if there's any numbers available. I wonder if it's possible to do some sort of rough scaling based on the pics?

The TPM ICS says that Lucrehulks carry 1,500 vulture droids each, which fits perfectly with the numbers from Outbound Flight.

Because we're talking about a roughly kilometer long ship that doesn't have to worry about taking care of them, I would think it could easily be in the hundreds probably something like at least 500 fighters, going by the fact that the 1,137m, or however long it is, Venator can carry 420, plus all the stuff to support its fighters.
