B-Wing Height when landed
Does anyone have any idea of how 'tall' a B-Wing's landing gear is?
I did a search but as far as I can tell (didn't read all of the threads) they all make references to firepower and the like.
I am in a PBeM game with a B-Wing. I don't have any tech manuals, or games that might have the info I am looking for.
I imagine if there was a Chilton's B-Wing manual, I could just look it up, but I haven't found one..........yet.
Oh, also, hopefully from people who have played games with this ship. Are there storage spaces?
If someone's got a link or two, then the Mod can lock this and quickly get it out of his hair.

Re: B-Wing Height when landed
I don't know about other sources but in PC-games the B-wing lands on its "side" with main "wing" being on the left side of the cockpit.ngc7293 wrote:Does anyone have any idea of how 'tall' a B-Wing's landing gear is?

Yeah, the cockpit rotates 90 degrees and the large wing lands on its side. The height of the cockpit at that point wouldn't be significantly different from that of any other Rebel fighter.

Ok, thanks.
I knew how it landed (on its side) but not the rest.
About those pics...
It seems odd that the ship wouldn't be closer to the ground. (maintenance)
Also, when I took a look online for pictures, it seemed that there was room for only one person in that pod. Yet, I remember reading a book involving Leia and Admiral Akkbar. It seemed to imply that he showed her the ship and cockpit room was like that of say, the 'Falcon. I can't remember the book though.
I guess that even if the ship is 10ft off the ground landed on it's side then there are special platforms moved in place for work.
thanks again

One of the excreable KJA Jedi Academy books. It wasn't *that* roomy, and it was a new two-seater extended cockpit version.ngc7293 wrote:Ok, thanks.

The B-wing mentioned in the JA Trilogy is a B-wing/E2, mentioned in the EGtV&V. The B-wing/E2 is modified to carry a co-pilot/gunner in addition to the pilot, and has the cockpit stretched out longer to accomodate the extra crewman, rather like a RL attack helicopter.ngc7293 wrote: Also, when I took a look online for pictures, it seemed that there was room for only one person in that pod. And IIRC, Ackbar's personal version was further enlarged for a little cargo space.NRS Guardian wrote:The B-wing mentioned in the JA Trilogy is a B-wing/E2, mentioned in the EGtV&V. IIRC, Akbar's ship was modified so that the B-wing could fit 2 people side by side with a bit of cargo room That must be one cramped cockpit.ngc7293 wrote:Also, when I took a look online for pictures, it seemed that there was room for only one person in that pod. I remember that modification thing. As far as cramped side-byside, hey, he's squeezed in a cozy space with Princess Leia!
One last question. Any idea what those fins are for at the front of the ship (infront of the engine)?

The fins are directly in front of the engines. The X-wings have a similar structure, in their case they can shoot a fraction of their drive plasma out the front for manuvering, and presumable the fins act as charged plates to direct it. Since form follows function, I would guess that they are thrust vectoring plates as well.ngc7293 wrote:One last question. Hmmm, the general idea that the ship has to land high in case an Sfoil is open sounds right, but that pic shows it landed low. It might be shown for filler, because it looks like the rest of the Bwing should run into the Xwing. (this is RoTJ, right? Maybe a technical blunder?)Alan Bolte wrote:Check out the lower left-hand corner of this pic.
Another idea is that the ship's landing gear can be lowered so several ships can be parked closely together.
Never the less, all my questions have been answered. And if the ship can go into Low Rider mode, I wonder if it can hop?
