AIM Triton

Post by CaptainChewbacca »

Anyone tried this? It downloaded itself onto my computer and got rid of AIM, then proceeded to not work at all. I had to spend an hour deleting it.

Has anybody here had a good experience with it?

Downloaded itself? It's most likely just malware then. Good experiences would be unlikely.

Its on the AIM mainsite, though it looks like it is beta-testing.

Again Cap'n, this is like the thirty millionth time I've seen you post a "HELP AIM TROUBLZ!1111" and for the thirty millionth time I'll say "DUMP AIM! It's crap, get a third party AIM subsitute that allows you to use AIM still. Use something like Trillian, Miranda IM, or even Gaim IM." and of course you'll ignore it, see the people that have moved on from the Pile that is AIM don't get these viruses, have these problems that you constantly post about.:)

Only problem with GAIM is people who aren't on GAIM can't send you files. It might have changed in the new release but in the old release GAIM could only receive files from other GAIM users.

I'm not in trouble. I uninstalled it, and I'm just bitching about what a terrible problem it was. I use trillian, I just don't have it on my new computer yet.

I have AIM Triton (I accidentally downloaded it while trying to get the original.) Aside from an evidently different format from the old system (which has caused some problems admittedly) I haven't had a particularly bad time with it, although it does sometimes need to be started and then restarted to work appropriately.

I was so confused by it I couldn't actually send messages out. I'm gradually switching over to Trillian.

I had it for a few days and hated it. I ended up downloading an older version.

I got it when looking for an older version for a temporary computer (I normally use Gaim). It was a tad confusing at first, but worked fine. My sister hates it though, and I really should have replaced it before leaving for college... oh well, she'll get used to it

I use AIM with DeadAIM installed, but I haven't upgraded to the latest version of AIM because from what I've heard and seen it's fruitier than Einhander's Gay-Bomb.

I use it because I like using an IM client that actually matches the rest of my UI.

I fucking hate it utterly, but it works reliably for me.
