Personnally, I just attack the lowest rankings who happens to have cash in the 20-30mil range. Don't be fooled by their 1000+ army, it's probably just a pile of workers.

I raided spearmint a second time, since I have now got mercinaries at level 2 I was able to take some drones, but didn't make much.

I need more turns and troops! Other than that, I'm more beefier in my forces. 300K of Offense and Defensive action should stop any noobs from getting to me but then again I don't have any naquadah left myself.

Never attack anyone a second time. When you find a sufficiently juicy target (7000+ rank, minimal defenses using spies... huge exposed naquadah reserves...) attack with all you've got for 15 turns. I made another 60 million Naquadah today with 30 turns.
