IIRC, that was brought up in the novel, including a meeting between Picard and a holographic Xavier that Dr. Crusher made to help her with some genetics research (related to the plot).

Oh, and, seriously, those WWII-graphic posters are just, well, if you're going to make fun of the Bush Administration, could you at least get it right? Department of Homeland Security, not Ministry.

I'm sure it has something to do with the author not getting his ass sued off. Besides, "ministry" keeps with the theme of the posters much better than "department" I think.

No, actually, he didn't die. That was Rachel Summers with the body of Tasha Yar getting blasted in the back, but she still survived.

The plot of the TNG comic includes the universe "fixing" the damage of the E-E's wrong turn by interspersing doomed people between universes. Tasha Yar is made the physical model of Rachel from "Days of Future Past", and John Proudstar - Thunderhawk (Warpath's older brother, the "New" X-Men from the 70s who died in his second appearance or something) - is made a Starfleet officer who dies on the Saratoga saving Ben Sisko's life from the Borg (hence the Wolvie/Worf page fighting Borg).
