[Star Trek] Possible Defiant Successor
A little something I've been working on...
Three decks, slipstream drive, advanced phasers (including the infamous Edge Tech Array on the saucer), ten crewmembers, blatantly atmosphere capable...
I'm thinking of putting in three Defiant-style pulse phasers above the nose deflector and a torpedo launcher on the ventral side of the saucer above the main deflector...
This may also end up being a pirate ship (stolen from an R&D facility, perhaps?) for Fleet Admiral JD. God knows...

I don't know anything about drawing/designing ships, but i think you could make it more clearly Defiantish if there were four pulse phasers, two on the top near the grey elliptical structures and the same for the bottom. The forward section might be more of a habitation module analogous to the normal function of Feddie saucers.
OTOH, putting them at the front means you can have them reach almost the whole ship's length.

I know jack about ST ships, but i will say its lightyears better than most designs i've seen on Star Trek shows. Very cool dude, very sleek ('blatantly atmospheer capable' indeed ). Very cool.
I'd add turrets on the wings and top, cause i'm compensating for somethimng, but thats just me.

Naw, the spikes are oldschool. Good job on that Einy, very late-period Trek. Though the final design could use some windows, and a more visible bridge.

The back looks too much like an F15 or some other fighter plane from now paired with the giant engines of the Blackbird. It doesn´t look like a Trek ship (At least in my eyes which admittedly don´t know shit about Star Trek).

I'd like to see it with better nacelle end-caps, Bussards I think they call them, rather than the pointed ones it appears to have now. They look far too retro and jar when compared to the rest of the design. I'd also like to see the forward hull section altered a little, maybe a little wider flare to it and smoother line up to the tip.

I have to say too, the warm necells doo seem a bit too pointed... Also, the color is a bit off from 'traditional' Fedi ships.. Usually Warp engines are Red tips with blue stripes. Obviously it isn't always like that, but the orange color you have now is more of what was used in TOS.
That said I love the new look of the ship and the added detail you gave to it.

I'm actually going for a slightly TOS-retrofuturistic vibe with this design, which accounts for the yellow spiked bussards, high-albedo hull and panel-lines, and lack of warp-engine grilles. I'm also working on intercoolers for the engines too...Crossroads Inc. wrote:I have to say too, the warm necells doo seem a bit too pointed... That looks like one badass ship, a federation corvette?
Need a side view, a nice thin sexy design, plus some weapons on the back if there isn't any already. Don't change the dimensions of the top view, what are the dimensions?
Very nice

Yup, it is. Remember, this is the successor to the Defiant.Red Star wrote:That looks like one badass ship,

Will do.Red Star wrote:Need a side view,
It uses quantum slipstream propulsion. The only canon ship designed to use that was so sleek and sexy it made the Prometheus look positively pedestrianRed Star wrote: a nice thin sexy design,
See the gold bits at the end of the hyperdrive^Wslipstream nacelles? Small Edge Tech phasers, just like that huge wraparound phaser on the "saucer". Same with the strips top and bottom of the Aux Impulse/Bussard nacelles. Trust me, the ship has multiple coverage on all aspects.Red Star wrote: plus some weapons on the back if there isn't any already.
Oops. I never did work out the dimensions, but considering the ship is ~1550 pixels long, I suspect it'll be 75 or 150 meters long; more than likely 75 meters...Red Star wrote: Don't change the dimensions of the top view, what are the dimensions?
Thank you!Red Star wrote:Very nice
EDIT: Damn Typodemons... Gagh I'm getting sleeeeeeeeepyyyy.....
Didn't notice that. A pair of these ships could probably defeat a small fleet.See the gold bits at the end of the hyperdrive^Wslipstream nacelles? Quite likely, considering that it outguns most anything its size and outruns anything big enough to kill it.Red Star wrote:Didn't notice that. nice Ein, but I'd rather make the Phasers be more common Yellow(gold)/orange color then blue (only TOS used blue beam phasers and I know of no blue pluse phasers).

Looks nice, but it doesn't look right as a Defiant sucessor. For me, the Defiant's stocky, compact build evokes the image of a tank, and I think any sucessor should reflect that as well.Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:Yup, it is. But that's just my opinion, of course.

Not a successor in appearance as much as it is in role-- small, strong, heavily armed craft for escort and battle. It's also got the additional enhancement of extra speed, making it a good courier and high-speed craft.Ma Deuce wrote:Looks nice, but it doesn't look right as a Defiant sucessor.
