Not if the orginal rumours of a THIRD prophecy is also true. Remember that at the battle of Endor, there were actually two prophecies at play. The Chosen One and the Sons of Suns. In canon, we only hear someone whisper out Sons of Suns during the Coruscant celebrations, but James Luceno interview in NJO about how Lucas refused to have a Dark Jedi evil as the Yuzhan Vong due to the Sons of Suns suggests that this prophecy is still in force.

Skywalker as the Sons of Suns was supposed to have either "wiped out evil" or the Light will control the Force. Either way, one can view DE as the fulfillment of this second prophecy, through the legacy of Darth Vader.

I've never heard of this "Sons of suns" prophecy; could you please elaborate on it?
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Outside SoD, in canon movie continuity, the prophecy and the events that result in its fulfilment are the core of Lucas' grand story. Sexcellent!
In SoD, bringing in the official EU.. well, the Sith were destroyed, it never said anything about other Dark Side adepts, who presumably are insignificant compared to the might of the real Sith Order (which is gone).

You could see it this way: the Emperor found a way to cheat death.

Hmm, what is the prophecy of the Son of Suns?

Sidious's eyes did not turn Sith yellow until his Force lightning barrage after losing his lightsaber, at which point it was essentially too late. Additionally, Sidious's movements and use of the Force were generally more impressive in his later duel with Yoda. I contend that Sidious was not tapping the dark side to his maximum potential in the duel with Windu, probably in order to prevent prematurely changing his appearance, but still expected to win. His defeat by Windu was an unpleasant surprise.
So he didn't throw the fight, but he was deliberately holding back all the way, and not fighting with everything he had.

im sorry it seems that everyone is ganging up on you but seriously your wrong on this one

Palpatine was beat, Mace had him dead, if it wasnt for crybaby Anakin, (the most tragic dumbass character in the human history of storytelling) the Jedi would have prevailed and very likely Padmè would be alive

I know this was the conclusion reached on the main site, but are there other sources? It's just that to me it seemed obvious he was playing possum. It's the prevention of his death that forced Anakin to cross the line. Up until that point it he was not beyond hope.. after being instrumental in Maces death there was no turning back and Palp was now his master.
Lucas said something to that extent in the commentaries. The most one could rationalize is that Palpatine saw himself losing and Anakin arriving just in the nick of time and let it happen, like Muad'dib's self-consuming vision in Dune Messiah.
I guess... it's just misleading how powerful and spritely he was the second Mace lost his hand. He definitely looked like he was playing possum.
