Ok so I got a new computer and it's great...except for one thing. When I copy or extract large amounts of files it switches itself off. Normally this isn't a such a big problem, games install fine etc. However if I do it with Explorer, My Computer or using a extractor like WinRAR, bing, it shuts down after about 15 seconds. Anyone got any ideas?
For those interested the stats are:
AMD Athlon 3200
ASUS A8N-SLI M/B
Geforce 6600 STI
Random Shutdown Issue

What kind of fan setup do you have for the computer? It could be heat.Neko_Oni wrote:Ok so I got a new computer and it's great...except for one thing. I'm sorry, but the number you have dialed is imaginary. Please rotate the phone by 90 degrees and try again.

Depends. If the shutdown issue is exclusively confined to Explorer chances are Explorer is fucked, which means an Explorer/Windows reinstall. If it IS the HDD ANY large-scale data transfer should trigger the problem.Neko_Oni wrote:Could it be an issue with the SATA HDD? (I forgot to mention that bit)

Do you have BSOD's set to display, 'cause that's what it sounds like to me (if you already see BSOD, then this obviously isn't the problem). Also, could very well be heat, although if you're managing to play games, this seems a little doubtful.

I once had a PC which sometimes turned off itself. No BSOD, just turning off. Sometimes you couldn't switch it on again for a few minutes, but sometimes it ran flawlessly for hours.

Ladies and gentlemen, I can envision the day when the brains of brilliant men can be kept alive in the bodies of dumb people.
