Well, to be fair, I have been slowly working on that story for quite some time. It's been on the 'back burner' as it were. Just seemed a good time to pull it out.its cool, there seems to be enough differences between your story and mine that im going to go ahead with it.

I think this is FAR worse than anything in DE. The Empire in DE was just the remnants of the original Empire, which was realistically still kicking around several years after Endor. The Deep Core is described as an uninhabited region, almost as obscure as the Outer Rim. There was a bunch of stupid crap in DE, but some of these ideas actually made sense.Darth Wong wrote:To be quite brutally honest, this is really no worse than some of the previous comicbook escapades. Come on, who did not groan when finding out that Palpatine reincarnated himself into a backup Empire at Byss that had somehow stayed hidden and passive all that time? That's at least as retarded as anything we're seeing here.
On the other hand, this Legacy shit doesn't. New Empire?! 100 years after the real Empire was wiped away? How the hell can it even be connected (I'd seriously like to see the bullshit explanation they come up with)? Seriously, what the fuck is this shit? Setting a story in the future isn't a bad idea in and of itself. This idea sucks because it's so blatantly uninspired, pushing the reset button and rehashing a crapload of old ideas. It pretty much invalidates everything the characters fought for in the movie and post-ROTJ era. This is something I would expect from fanfic, and not even decent fanfic.

And that new Sith appears to be a cross between Aayla Secura and Darth Maul. Fanboys are gonna love this.VT-16 wrote:Ladies and gentlemen, Quinlan Vos 2.0

This idea sounds like a shitty PSW Fic idea that would dribble out of my brains were it to be fertalized with heavy doses of alcohol.
"Shit, man... the Empire... weren't they awesome? Let's put the Empire back in there."
"Let's set this is the fuuuuture...."
"Twi'Leks are hot... Darth Maul was sweet... Eureka- Twi'Lek *hic* Sithzors for villain!"
The only possible rationalization for a New Empire is that the New Republic is so inept (we've already seen it demonstrated) that the Imperial Remnant gets its act together and starts to reassemble the old one.
The Sith Order could have been some Dark Jedi or Force Adept stumbling on a Sith Holocron, however unlikely that would be.

Being in elementary school meant that my reaction upon seeing Dark Empire was along the lines of:
"OMG! MORE STAR WARS! THIS IS PURE AWESOMENESS!" Exept in spanish, and without the OMG, which ironically I only began using after that sickly thing called "my faith" went into a comma.
In any case, that comic holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to the EU. Furthermore, I'm willing to ignore any stupidity in it due to the fact that it has not one, not two, but three different super-weapons at the same time. World Devastators, Eclipse Star Destroyer, and Wankatine, ftw.

Here's what I posted. I know it's not going to last.
So let me get this straight. The Sith lie in wait for a thousand years, hiding their presence from the Republic, until finally they strike to destroy the Jedi and bring about the Empire. But between the redemption of the fallen Anakin Skywalker, and the efforts of his son Luke, the Sith are destroyed and democracy restored.
Whoops, hold the phone, there's still money to be made. I meant to say that the Empire was merely interrupted for a little while, and that the Sith were simply delayed for about one-tenth the time they spent lying in wait in the first place. Yeah, that's more like it.
Good job, too, on the "Skywalker, to the EXTREME with rad tattoos!" and the "Let's make Darth Maul a woman in a bikini!" character designs. Very tasteful. The only reason anyone could possibly object to this entire endeavor is because they fear what they don't understand, and not because it's blatantly exploiting the source material to sell comic books to teenage boys.
Good show.

Apparantly one person on that Darkhorse thread said that "History repeats itself" to Shaithis' sarcastic post.
Of course. Let's illustrate this idea.
Length of the Republic- Ad Hoc ~25,000
Length of the Empire- Barely 50 years
Democratic Interregnum After Total Defeat By Rebels- 100 years
Rise of New Empire- 25,150 years from the start of the Republic.
That makes little sense.
For that to happen, it'd be something like this scenario:
Length of Kaiserreich/Weimar*- ~62 years
Length of Third Reich- 45 days. If Hitler's Chancellor position is the start, the Third Reich falls to Pro-Weimar rebels on March 15th, 1933.
Democratic Interregnum After Total Defeat By Rebels- 3 Months.
Dark Horse-type Rise of New Nazi Germany- July.
*Although not totally democratic, nice governments, they make a nice contrast of ancient tradition compared to the new Nazi philosophy, same as the Republican/Imperial ideologies.
I for one welcome our easily defeatable but rebound-capable Nazi overlords.
EDIT- Prussia removed to make point better. The proportions between Dark Horse's Empire and the Rebounding Nazis are now nearly exact.

I will if MRDOD doesn't want to do so himself.

I'll venture to say that the concept of a descendent-of-Skywalker-turning-on-legacy isn't that bad of an idea. Now, if it was left just there with no new Empire or no Sith or whatever, something more akin to the Batman Beyond series where the legacy of Batman was dead for a while only to be revived again. Dark Horse Comics should focus, then, just on this new Skywalker's struggles to embrace or reject his destiny. That would be something readable.
Edit: missed a word.

#0 came out today. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate a copy of it, but here's a very detailed summary from The2ndQuest at the JC LF:
The most likely ancestors at this point of Emperor Roan Fel are Jaina Solo and Jagged Fel, although this might not be the case.
In any case, it's looking better than I expected.
The Pellaeon-class Super Star Destroyer (or Star Dreadnaught, if you like) is an ugly-ass starship, though.
Like I said, I still haven't read the actual comic yet, but it actually looks almost like the new Empire is the descendant of the Empire of the Hand rather than the Imperial Remnant proper, given the influences of the Fels, the 501st, and the appeareance of several Chiss in previews. Or I could be completely off base.-Ossus was the first planet that was permitted to experiment with Vong terraforming to restore a previouslyd evastated planet.
-Cade's associates do not know he was a Jedi.
-Kol Skywalker, apparently Cade's father, disliked politics and preferred to stay at the less formal Ossus temple.
-Cade was rescued by pirates after the Ossus massacre.
-Deliah Blue, Zeltron & mechanic for the Mynock, Cade's ship. Looks like she's got a thing for Cade.
-Jariah Syn, Kiffar (it seems) & bounty hunter and Mynock copilot, weapons expert (including illegal weapons like razor and thud bugs), loathes Jedi.
-Shado Vao, Twi'lek & padawan to Kol Skywalker, former friend to Cadee, lightsaber expert
-Wolf Sazen, Zabrak, former padawan to Kol, former master to Cade. Is seeking out Cade.
-Rasi Tuum, possibly a human-like Bothan
-Hosk Tre'lyis, dog-faced Bothan
-Wild Nexu roam areas of Coruscant; Rainbow Bridge tourists are warned not to stray
-Finn, can't ID his species, bartender at Rik's
-Queen Jool, female Hutt owner of Rik's, information broker, has a cybernetic, jeweled, eye patch
-Naxy Screeger, compulsive gambler, he looks like a Sakiyan (Djas Puhr's race)
-Attatag Gosem, Gotal spy and information broker with suspected Sith connections
-Rav, Feeorin pirate, operates hunter services out of Socorro
-Chak, Wookiee smuggler and captain of The Grinning Liar (gee, I wonder who that's referring to? grin )
-Kee, Chak's human female copilot and mechanic
-Darth Talon, Twi'lek female, one of Krayt's Hands, executor of Krayt's will.
-Darth Nihl, Nagai and the other Hand, top enforcer of Krayt's will
-Darth Stryfe, human male, most brutal of Krayt's followers
-Darth Krayt, over 100 years old, founder of the new Sith order; abandoned Rule of Two for "Only the One"- the Sith order itself.
-Darth Wyyrlok, male Chagrian, third of that name, most trusted Lt. of Krayt's, master of Sith ritual and lore
-Darth Maladi, female Devaronian (I think), head of Sith Intel and Assassination, expert torturer
-Ganner Krieg, Imperial Knight, most tristed friend of Antares
-Sigel Dare, Imperial Knight, Does not like the Sith or the Jedi
-Antares Draco, leader of the Imperial Knights; formidably both with a saber and as a fighter pilot
-Roan Fel, third Emperor of the Fel dynasty, fully trained Imperial Knight
-Marasiah Fel, ala "Sia", Princess and daughter to Roan, his only child, next in line for the throne despite opposition from some Moffs, has recieved Imperial Knight training but never formally knighted.
-Bastion is still the most heavily fortified place in the galaxy
-Pellaeon-class Super Star Destroyers are built at KDY, features a sleeker outline to make the command tower less of a target and have greater shield protection; has one really large central engine with 6 smaller ones at it's sides.
-Sienar predator improves upon TIE Intereptors, has shields, hyperdrive and multiple wing positions
-Tev "Crasher" Rimon, Imperial pilot
-Jae "Storm" Alura, Imperial pilot
-Captain Gunn "Gunner" yage, Imperial pilot, one of the Empire's top pilots, daughter to Moff Rulf Yage ("the hero of Ossus"), does everything to earn her father's respect
-Moff Morlish Veed, Tactical skills only surpassed by his ambitions for the throne
-Nyna Calixte, in carge of Imperial Intelligence, Veed's partner, she was the contcat the Sith first approached the Empire through.
-Konrad Rus, heads the Imperial Mission, a quiet man of peace advocating the first Emperor Fel's "Victory Without War" initiative.
-Imperial Mission has stations on planet's throughout the galaxy. Missionaries dedicate themselves to the hightes principles of service of what truley emboies the Empire the most
-Astraal Vao, female Twi'le nad twin sister to Shado Vao. Orphaned as chidlren, found and raised by the mission, Shado was later recruited by the Jedi but Astraal feels she eblongs with the Mission.
-Incom CF9 Crossfire Fighter, main fighter of the GA, a logical extension of the X-Wing and Headhunter
-Jedi X-83 Twintail Fighter, latest version of the X-Wing, with hyperdrive and hardwired astromechs that give each ship it's own "personality"
-Jedi Shuttle, primarily diplomatic transport, some were outfitted for battle during Imperial-Sith War.
-Stormtroopers are mostly recruits, some families have served for generations.
-501st still premeire Stormtrooper unit
-Aliens allowed in Stormtroopers, with customized helemts to accomodate them.
-Armor strength upgraded to absorb and duffuse blasts
-Use ARC-9965 blaster rifles
The most likely ancestors at this point of Emperor Roan Fel are Jaina Solo and Jagged Fel, although this might not be the case.
In any case, it's looking better than I expected.

How predictable. Over a century has passed and they still have TIE fighters, Stormtroopers, Star Destroyers ..... no bloody creative mind at all.
Like Legend of Galactic Heroes? Please contribute to http://gineipaedia.com/
You know, as many people have said before, I don't mind rough similarities in technology and style; in a galatic civilization as long-lived as the SW one, things realistically have to stay static for a long time (hell, civilian cargo ships should have resale value for at least a century). Of course, that does limit the originality a good setting can have...Vympel wrote:

Which is exactly why they should have set this one thousand years past ROTJ, not a mere century (which is only a scant fifty years after the established EU, if not less). That's where the creative bankruptcy really shows; they were desperate to keep some connection to the old characters (ie, the Skywalker/Solo lines), and moving it so far into the future would make it hard to continue to milk the same, tired personalities and familial struggles.
Really, this is where KotoR really took a chance, and succeeded, I think at least. I don't see why these people can't follow in its footsteps.

In the name of all that is sacred in the Star Wars Universe...I haven't seen wanked out characters this ridiculous since my days of playing WEG Star Wars.
And they HAD to throw in that skull tattoo shit to stroke the Fandahorians.
Edit: I know it's not the Mandalorian symbol, but it looked similar to me.
