Apologies for my delay this turn. I stayed at the office until midnight last night, got home, stayed up long enough to do my B5 turn then crashed in preperation for an early morning start. I'm still at the office. :)

Yeah, the Klingons are TOTALLY outclassed. I saw the Tholian ship designs too and.. eep.

If you want to get the Tholians, you'd better have armor-skipping weapons. Ye gods. However, fighters are quite effective against their light cruisers.

If Brian wasn't being all evil and threatening...well, if Brian wasn't a problem I would've conquered the Klingons by now, but I digress. The Tholians becoming totally AI controlled makes them a less attactive target, not a more attractive one, since the option to surrender is turned off and the AI won't abide by our "control the home worlds and they're your subjugates" rule.

I thought that kissing a mod's ass was against the board rules.

I never said it was your fault that your empire's not as strong as mine, I know you got crappy home worlds. Doesn't change the fact that I would've gleefully conquered you if not for the alliance needing all the help it can get. :P

One thing about the PBW site they really need to work on is the fact that all the buttons are smushed close together and if you click the wrong one you face disastrous consequences with no confirmation click. It's a textbook example of how not to design an interface.

The text version is good.

The PBW Admins in charge aren't the original designers of the website and its all pro bono so I'm happy with it.

The PBW website is outstanding, there are official company systems for other games that don't work as well.

I reread this thread the other day. Man, I was one surly bastard at the start. :)

Hm I just realized that my way of checking the threads every five minutes shoots up the hits for the SE:IV threads. I must be singlehandedly responsible for several thousand of those hits .

I'll just wait for the e-mails from now on lol.

I demand more and more posts in the RP thread. It's become one of my regular fanfic fixes. Especially since there are no character shields, and it looks like the villains may very well win.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! We'll do our best. There would've been more for me, but I was at home this weekend and for whatever weird reason I can't get to the board there.

There's just some stuff we can't RP, though, or we'll give away important information.

Yeah I was wondering where you were Trog.

Your ships are monsters. Romulan Advanced Plasma Torpedo should be at least 3 reload, probably 4. To have more than two and a half times faster reload than our shield and armor piercing torpedoes makes it a slaughter .

Yeah, this mod is balanced around one thing really: Resistant shielding. Note how your shots do like, only 10 damage to a hull normally? Shields regen after every hit. Which is why 5 reload shield skippers are that way.

But ouch. I had NO idea the Romulan torp was 2 reload. Just like a Quantum.

It's not just the shields or torpedoes. I stand corrected earlier about the rock paper sissors thing. It's not that you go fighters or ships, it's what you put in them. If you see somebody else put a lot of shields, you put more quantums and less beam weapons. If you go all torpedoes or all beams your fleet gets slaughtered at least in the sims.

Also Tux, fighters blow donkey nuts. 300+ fighters were just annihilated by Trogdor's 60 KF's . They all took four point defense guns each to kill or two main weapon hits. But Trogdor's ships were just so massive and heavily shielded that my peashooters couldn't scratch them. Take let's say a stack of fifty on average, if you fire once assuming DR 5 from the shields you do around 750 damage. Trog's ships had 1.2k shields lol.

Heh, what can I say? If there's one thing my one player games taught me, it's how to design one beast of a ship.

This is my first PBW game, so if the AI doesn't try it, I will probably not be very good at countering it (hence why I forgot to start building the shields that'll stop warp point openers until way too late). I'm learning a lot from this, even if I am learning the hard way. That said, I hope we eventually play another trek mod game, so I can redeem myself.

It's wasn't necessarily too late. I rushed for them. Those and genesis torpedoes too. The 4200 build rate with emergency build.

I'm surprised you're using master computers. You only get another torpedo or pulse off it and it takes an extra 3k minerals to build it.

By the time we finish this game SE:V might be out. It's far from over, there's still the Klingons, you're still in the game, Kirk's planning something and the UFP are mucking around.

<edit>I tried to level the playing field early on with a lot of hints and tips, I think I mentioned maneuver warfare. Once warp openers come out the entire game changes. Anyway no harm Trogdor. If you shielded your systems well, it would have been a surefire win for you, there's no counter to those Romulan plasma torpedoes. They're broken lol.</edit>

B5's different at least. Your greatest weapon there is making your opponent look eviller. :P

I like my torps "broken." :P As for the master computers, well, like I said, I've only ever played one-player games before this. The ST mod AI is really, really dumb, even when you set it to hard. I'm used to only having to fend off the most pathetic attacks until my empire's absurdly wealthy, so I never bothered comparing the costs too closely. Another mistake.

I have to tell you, it would've been so much better for me if you'd opened that damned warp point three or four turns earlier. Hell, I might've been able to get the fleet onto the warp point to stop the incoming fleets and then go on the offensive if you had.

Oh well, at least Bones finally likes me. That's good, especially considering that if we manage to rebound and win, there's no question that the TOS Federation will be the galactic hegemon.

Well that's good, because I'm not doing very well in that game. :P

I was expecting an attack like this, but it came sooner than I had thought. I didn't believe there was any way that you would get warp openers online before I did with me having much more research.

Advanced warp technology only costs 100k to research. The research score is deceptive. It doesn't show trade, only domestic output. I was getting half a million from Trogdor.

I got my genesis torpedoes before you too and genesis torpedoes are a prequisite to advanced warp technology .

I didn't realize it was that substantial. We shouldn't have continued trade with you for so long. Oh well, it could still go either way, so I won't get all self critical just yet.

Hey it went both ways. I got your Vulcan and Romulan brains you got my latinum :D. Though now that I have my shiny toys I don't need your brains anymore.

Except it didn't go both ways. Not realizing how much of our economy was due to trade with you, we overbuilt and were left with huge deficits when you severed. Plus, none of this would have been possible without the research boost you got from trading with us. Yikes, talk about a fuck up. Oh well, next time will be different.
