I've had this song for a while. I have no idea where it came from, who it's by, or even what it's really called. It's titled "Chasing California" on the file name. Lyrics transcribed below, as best I can.
[Something] I want
In a place that I've been
Can you feel the cold coming in?
It's the California sun
It always makes me come undone
And you can't afford me now
Now, now, now
Looked for innocence
And proved our ignorance
And you looked for paradise
Crawled up to the stage
[Something] turn the page
In a place you've never been
[Backup unintelligble]
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
And you can't afford to wait
And you can't afford to win
And you can't afford to give
And you're falling off again
You can't afford to wait
You can't afford to win
And you can't afford to give
And you're falling off again
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
You
She's [something]
And I'm changing
She's [something]
And I'm fading
Yes, I'm fading
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
I've been chasing, I've been chasing
You
Much obliged for any help you can offer.

I can't find a damn thing. Try a google search with lyrics + any of those lines in quotations--you'll notice a distintly small number (sometimes zero) of returns. Google can't find those lyrics on the internet, basically. I've tried combinations of key words, quoted phrases, title guesses, the works. It's like the song doesn't exist (although strangely I feel like I've heard it before, the words look vaguely familiar). I've been listening to songs on Real Rhapsody but I haven't found anything yet.
Can you give me some more detail, like male/female voice, chorus/solo, rock/other who else it sounds like etc?
EDIT: I cannot match it, because there are no lyrics provided, but there is an extremely obscure artist with a song called "Chasing California" by the name of David Judson Clemmons. Unless someone can find some lyrics or another of his songs to gauge by this will not be confirmed.

"Do not worry, I have prepared something for just such an emergency."
"You're prepared for a giant monster made entirely of nulls stomping around Mainframe?!"
"That is correct!"
"How do you plan for that?"
"Uh... lucky guess?"

I could out and out upload the song, if you'd like, but I dunno if that's legal or not.
And yeah, Google comes up completely empty. That's what astounds me. Not one hit for the lyrics!
It's a single male singer with what sounds like a male backup. It's somewhat rock, but it's down-beat. As for comparison with other bands, I'm having a hard time coming up with any. I got up about 20 minutes ago and my brain is still turning on.

Interestingly enough, Jud is one of the bands attended by David Judson Clemmons He's been in several...
Although, I did not notice any lyrics or samples on that site, Dalton, are you simply going off the title name (I ask because that's all I had going for me when I made the match above)?
