Hmm... a better matchup would be Scout vs. Avenger, in my opinion. The Corsair's weaponry was designed to affect large groups of targets at once, not necessarily a single target.
Aside from that... I haven't the foggiest idea what sort of range or weapons/shield strengths the Corsair has. Anybody ever do any calcs?

Most likely the Avenger because of its missiles. We really dont know enough about power levels to make a call though. Its hard enough with the capital units.

Avengers, due too lack of stats & and it's sstrength and versatility. Corsairs are a light fighter and probably couldn't hande tose TIE Missles, but we don't have stats.

To my knowledge, the only things we know about the Corsair performance wise is from the game. Game mechanics are utterly useless for this sort of vs debate. Even if we do use them, the Corsair is seriousily underpowered compared to Scouts, Wraiths, Valkryes, etc. I must put my vote for TIE Advanced.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
