Amen. That would be a much better place, and much closer to what the God of Christianity would want for humanity, a place where discussion of religion (or lack of) openly, freely, and without mocking or discrimination is the norm, rather than the exception. I cannot speak for the atheists/agnosts/non-Christians in general (sorry to blanket-cover a large group, but I can't list every individual religion), but that would be the best world IMHO.guyver wrote:Some people just do not get it.
I dream of a world one day in which people can say I do not believe in God for the following reasons so on and so forth. And than in this world there would be people who say that is great you do not believe in God ok no problem, I do believe in God (Allah, or something else) so have a nice day. Both people would smile and just go about there daily business.
Would that not be a great place?
LOL...I needed a good laugh. It's sad but true, and rather amusing to boot. All I do know is when a large group of people starts shooting at you everyone I can see at the time prays to someone or something. That is the only time people will show true faith in something or someone.

That's the square, not the square root. Square roots of negative numbers do not exist. For example, 2*2=4 and -2*-2=4. Nothing times itself equals -4.Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi wrote: Isn't the square root of negative two million 4,000,000,000,000? You're being real nice to her.

Does anyone recall the Simpsons episode where Homer worked at home because he became really fat? In order to increase his laziness, he used this balancing bird thingy that had fluid in one end so it would rock back and forth, and used it to keep pressing the "y" key.

I think I pulled a muscle from laughing so hard. That was terrific. Simply terrific.
Just a side thought: does anyone from here email these people and tell them how stupid they are?

Why bother? To be frank, dealing with creationists is a mentally exhausting exercise. I literally cannot read through an entire, long-winded creationist piece of pseudoscience trash in one sitting. It's just too mind-numbingly stupid.
Sure, in the beginning, it may seem fun to trash their arguments and slaughter them in debates, but it just gets to be a boring and repetitive exercise after a while. Do you know how many times I've had to type out the exact same goddamn refutation to that second law of thermodynamics argument? I honestly can't see how Mike has the mental stamina to still reply to creationist E-mails. I just ignore them, now.

That's the problem with a website like answersingenesis.org. You can't read through the whole thing because the mind-numbing assaults against logic and science pile up to the point that you realize a full rebuttal would take months. You can literally find a monstrous logical or scientific flaw in just about every paragraph.Durandal wrote:Why bother? To be frank, dealing with creationists is a mentally exhausting exercise. I ignore most of the same-sounding ones. I tend to reply only to the ones who I think have some chance of sustaining a dialogue good enough for my Hate Mail page, or at least good enough to pillory here on the board, for the other members' amusement.I honestly can't see how Mike has the mental stamina to still reply to creationist E-mails. A surveyor, while not the first to come up with imaginary numbers, was the one who put them on the map (ouch!). Not only can you use them in signal theory, you can make pretty spirals and things with them. They're important in optics, and they can tell you in the case there's more than one solution to a physical problem, what the real physical answer would be. Einstein had to deal with mathematics that were too weak to deal with his problems, and complex analysis gave him a way to express some of his more hi-falutin' idears. You can even use them to find buried treasure, in Gamow's "treasure map" problem found in his book 1,2,3, Infinity and excerpted in The Story of i, an Imaginary Tale. The idea of the complex conjugate can be extended to real numbers to come up with an alternate quadratic formula. And so on, I guess.Cthulhu-chan wrote:Hey, don't bash imaginary numbers!
