Why is that this kind of SR vs SW debates never lose steam?

Move on to what? Your question seems to have been answered as in a fairly clear fashion; there are always people out there looking to claim that ST is superior despite all evidence to the contrary, and as long as the debate remains enjoyable, there will be those who will oppose and attempt to educate them.

I was just refering to those that nitpicked on tittle of the thread. Yes the question has been more than answered thank you.

I'm going to agree that the ST universe is better in some ways. For instance, their alien category is alot more detailed than SW. I mean all the "Star Trek: Enterprise" series was about was finding new alien species to join the Federation. I get the ST series mixed up all the time so please correct me if "Enterprise" isn't right so I don't look stupid in front of my friends. Also, as they introduce new alien species they say were they come from. I guess if you really think about it SW alien info has expanded alot since the origonal trilogy.

After the amount of time that interstellar travel has been available in the SW universe, some of the aliens don't really have a home planet, since they have spread to so many.

In ST, IMO, the vast majority of aliens are one dimensional caricatures that can almost be summed up in one or two words. Klingons are militaristic and honorable. Ferengi are greedy, etc.

Quite frankly, SW aliens are slightly more realistic too. True, they are mostly bipedal humanoids, but they have much more varied looks than "forehead wrinkle" aliens. Their physiologies make sense for their environments, and it creates a more varied and interesting look.

The same can be said for many Star Wars aliens. Sullustians are navigators, bothans are spies and sneaky bastards. All Verpines are techs, all Hutts criminals etc.

Not really. Asyr Seylar was a Bothan Rogue Squadron pilot, Traest K'refey was a Bothan admiral, there was a Sullustan Holonet reporter in the Medstar duology... and in Planet of Twilight, there was even a Hutt Jedi.

And even those that do fit the stereotypes tend to be characters in their own right.

And in ST, the Bajorans were definitely not a monolithic caricature, either.

Ok you named one way, though your logic is as flawed as ever given that as other pointed out the SW galaxy is a lot more spread out and there are few new worlds and civilisations left to discover. Please name some more.

I think the reason Trekkies continue to rehash the debate is because it's a challenge.

I could understand people taking hobbies such as skydivng, Bungee jumping , riding Kayaks, White water rafting seriously annd even the animosity between sports fans of oppsing team members but honestly for peope to be so entrenched in this particular passive hobby as to even make death threats and so on seems just like a huge waste of valuble time & energy. Not to mention that for one to make death threats over this kind of hobby one needs to have a few bolts loosened in the nugget...

Why is making death threats over the vs debates any more stupid than doing so over, say, soccer vs football? I agree it is terminally stupid in the first place but I fail to see why it would be any more stupid doing so over one hobby vs another.

In the case of death threats they are wrong not matter what although I could understan a parent being sort of justified in the scenario I described.

I did not tried to equate overzealous people about this topic with potential child molesters or anything of that sort just to be clear...

I was just trying to stress how ridiculous it is...
