Standard old Tent stake. My Boy-Scout troop had dozens of them for campouts when you needed to tie down a tent. They where replaced with plastics ones since, well, its a big metal spike and can hurt people.

I've seen those sold as bridge spikes or something like that at the local Home Depot. It has something to do with bridges and that's about all I remember. They're also a favourite of eco-terrorists for spiking trees.

I would presume they're used for holding together wooden bridges? -shrugs-

Not to mention rail-tie walls. That's what we under the deck to get it together.

Oh yeah, I have three of those. Don't have any real use for them, though.

Yeah, they would be perfect with the home-made crossbow I built for physics class last semester. Just need to beef up the guiderail and the bow. :D

Add fletching to the non-business end too.

actually given that it's a nail/bolt you would be better off welding hard fins to it.

The verb fletching would kinda cover all ways of adding stabilizers to an arrow. It's versatile like that.

Also, I would love to see this nail fired from a crossbow. At a range of course.

Personally I think you should make a discarding sabot for it so that it can be fired from a potato cannon.

Well, obviously. Although, I seriously doubt the bow itself could take this nail... but if I ever get around to doing it, I'll be sure to post pics.

It's a gutter spike. Railroad spikes are about an inch thick; it's definitely not one of those.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

There are loads of nails like this in my parents house. They hold together the wooden parts of the roof and stuff like that.
