SE IV players - Supernova Mod status?

Post by Sharpshooter »

I've checked Malfador, SpaceEmpires.net, the Shrapnel forums, Yahoo, Google, the Wayback Machine, and even a couple of torrent engines, and I haven't found anything, and seeing as how there seems to be a pretty decent-sized player population here...

I recently picked it up from Amazon for a good price, and have had quite a few good runs on it - as Arthur Tuxedo notes, though, you then move on to mods or mod it yourself. Between Malfador and SpaceEmpires.net, I've got at least a good two dozen or so I've nicked, as well as a whole boatload of races and such that I've got to extract.

The problem is, the one mod I really want to get, Supernova, seems to have vanished from all direct existance. Malfador and SpaceEmpires.net still have it listed, and Google and Yahoo still pull it up - but the actual development site itself is gone (interestingly enough, it seems to be the same service Punky Brewster uses for his own site). I get the ads and the redirect, but asides from that, nothing - no ghost on Wayback, no files stored on SpaceEmpires.net, nothing.

So basically, it comes down to this:

A) What happened? Did the developer just decide to up and quit developing and simply not tell anyone about it? Are they on a hiatus for an indefinate period of time? Did the site simply crash and the manager hasn't yet restored it?

B) Are there any copies floating around on some server or crappy little Angelfire/Geocities account, or is it extinct?
This has been another blunder by you friendly local idiot.

The site http://www.supernovamod.tk/ works for me.

Although the download link doesn't work.

There's a contact e-mail with instructions how to contact the guy in the site.

Wierd. I tried it at least three different times...and they all came up the dead each.

Sorry for bugging you, and thanks.

Well, even if nothing for SEIV exists anymore, they may make a new mod after SEV comes out.
"I want to mow down a bunch of motherfuckers with absurdly large weapons and relative impunity - preferably in and around a skyscraper. Then I want to fight a grim battle against the unlikely duo of the Terminator and Robocop. The last level should involve (but not be limited to) multiple robo-Hitlers and a gorillasaurus rex."--Uraniun235 on his ideal FPS game

"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of the Force."--Darth Vader

From the Malfador SE IV Mods page:
The page wrote:-Whole new tech tree with more than 300 tech areas.
-More levels of tech areas some even as big as 40 levels.
-Over 50 negative and positive Racial Traits.
-Over 350 different components (without counting the levels if I'd count them it'll be over 5000)
-Normal and "Leaky" shields and armor.
-Simplified QNP.
In a nutshell, it's stroking material for techno-twinks.

Check pms sharp :P.

If you want a totally new experience try Adamant Mod. Organic, Energy, Physical and Magical races. And as much technology as that mod, except it's polished as hell and looks beautiful.
