Urggg, the itching! I can feel it just by looking at those pictures.

Just shy of two full weeks. It is indeed rather itchy. My cheeks never grow very effectively; I'll probably be lopping that stuff off soon. I might also trim the neck area, since it looks rather unsightly. Well, the whole face looks rather unsightly, but there isn't much to be done about that....

Hey, what gives? It seems to me that we're owed at least one more progress photo. Or has Chardok -- the odds-on favourite -- bowed out?

Okay, this is the week four obligatory picture. The beard is pretty much fully grown in at this point, and will only get longer and scragglier as time goes on. I've already trimmed the cheeks down once, and will do so again soon.

The itch, I have to say, is exquisitely annoying.

So, is this thing still on, or am I wasting my time?

Is it just me, or does the beard make Scrawl look younger?

And, aren't beards supposed to have the opposite effect? Sure as shit does on me.

Well, the fact that in my bearded shots you can't see my bald head probably contributes to this illusion. In addtion, I've just noticed that this photo is blurry enough that you can't see very much of the white hairs in my beard.

My calendar puts the eighth week on March 3rd (the first day was January 6). I'm fine making this week the last week -- there are exactly two of us in the "competition" (Chardok told me, via PM, he's not up to posting much for the time being), and my wife would be happy to see the last of my facial hair. Besides, I'm at the point where the only gains will be in length and scraggliness.

I'm up for ending it this friday, mainly because my housemates are suggesting a beard contest and i'll need to shave clean again.

Are we declaring this a draw or putting it up to the public vote?

Good question. My guess is that this has fallen into the "who cares" category. If I'm wrong about that, hopefully someone will disabuse me of that assumption before Friday. Otherwise, it's a sister-kisser.

Well, I suppose you're entitled to submit your growth for approval.

In fact, I'll put mine in shortly. This way I can shave tomorrow.

These ones demonstrates that, thanks to the missing hair on the top of my head, the beard really doesn't make me look younger. Cutting off the top of my head in the photo makes me look younger.

My grandpa sweater also helps with the "old man" look.

The beard comes off tomorrow morning. My wife will appreciate that, methinks.

Oh, pshaw. I still can't grow hair on my cheeks, so I guess it's a good thing that I don't live in the arctic.

Anyways, if anyone out there does want to vote, we can start a poll thread. If not, well, ignore this thread just like before.

SCRawl, I maintain that, even with the affliction of male pattern baldness, the beard still makes you look younger.

Where the hell is Chardok anyways? He's not doing his beard thread, he seemingly dropped off the Earth in the weightloss thread and he started both of them.

He's posted in G&C recently asking about a new computer. I presume his old one went belly-up, either that or real life took precedence for awhile.

Well, I won't argue the point.

As for Chardok, he told me (via PM) that he didn't have a lot of time for posting (thanks to RL issues), so he was going to have to let the beard thing slide.

Ah, that makes sense. I've had computers go bad on me and it was like withdrawal symptoms. And this was before becoming addicted to this place.
