Killing a Hutt
I'm writing a small fanfiction, but part of it has one of the characters killing a Hutt who would be considered, about middle class in terms of power and wealth for a Hutt. However, given the state of your general defense technology in Star Wars, that's no easy thing. I know that an easy solution towards killing said Hutt is by blowing up his ship, but in the story I'm writing, the character kills the Hutt as another Hutt put a bounty on that Hutts head, and blowing up a ship makes it hard to collect the head. And yes, I know Hutts look down upon outsiders killing Hutts, and that's part of what I'm banking on as a plot device in my story.
However, I still need a plausable way for the Hutt to be killed. Any suggestions? And as a side question, what general info can you guys give me on bounty hunting in the SW universe?

Well, this idea has never been tried to my knowledge, but in theory you could disable a ship with ion cannons, then power down your blasters and blow a non-fatal hole in it. However, most decent sized ships presumably have self-sealing bulkheads to prevent hullbreaches from killing everyone onboard.
You could go the assassin route, trying to sneak into his lair and offing him in his sleep, of course.
If you had stormtroopers...well, 'nuff said.
BTW, I just realized that your avatar is Ryoko. Coolness.

You need the head?
Pop the Hutt in trainsit. Wait till the Hunt leaves where it stays then hit the ship with Ion Cannon's to disable it, blow the engine and comms equipment with energy hits then simply start poping holes in the hull until all the crew dies from explosive decompression/oxygen depervation then suit up, go aboard and get the head.
Or simply pretend to be a Pirate, do the same but after disabling board and kill the crew.

Han Solo: the Hutt gambit, done by the leader of the Desilijic family (Jabba was the second in command of it) to the Hutt you mentioned (The father of Durga the hutt of black sun fame).OmegaGuy wrote:I remember once someone assassinated a Hutt by putting addictive drugs in these frogs he ate, then stopped adding them so he died of withdrawal.
Addictives would work, although the described sun cost as much as a small colony and was fantastically rare, and normal poisons are all but useless against hutts except in massive quantites (Presumably).
Your best bet is just to blast a hutt with a blaster, it does work, it just takes about a dozen shots to get past the fat, or you can use raw physical trauma in rge degrees (The idiot Hutt was gored to death by a Tlanda'Til in "Han solo:Rebel dawn" in a confined space after a few minutes).

You could always go the Boba Fett route (I think it was in the bounty hunter trilogy) where he found out someone had placed explosives in the audience chamber of the Shell Hutts, then when he was there to collect a bounty he pushed a button and the whole damned place went down, crushing the Hutts inside their shells.
In your fanfic, you could simply have the bounty hunter get hired by the Hutt (if this Hutt has a bounty on his head from another Hutt, he's gonna get hiring protection like mad) and while in the palace set explosive charges (low yield thermal detonators or the like) in structurally strategic places and at an opportune time push the button, collapsing the palace, killing the Hutt and all of his potection at once. The head might be a little squashed, but that's what taxadermy (sp?) is for

Um...if the Hutt is one giant mullusk, how exactly is this head going to look like once seperated from the body? Is it even going to be practical without a lot of mess?
Just curious...

By having a price on the Hutt's head, I guess you're saying that the hiring party wants to keep the head as a trophy, as opposed to just the knowledge that he won't be competing for business anymore. I would normally say that a sniper rifle is probably the way to go.
Of course where does our friend the Hutt live? One could also use thermobarics? (say while he's asleep fill his house with propane or something and then (from a safe distance) apply a spark (gee I wonder where you're going to find one of those in the SW world...)

The problem I have, is that your average middle class hutt could afford a better ship than most navies could afford (assuming that your first class Hutt could afford whole Armadas, your Middle Class Hutt could afford a really kick ass ship, and your low Class Hutts could afford the random junk ships and security). That of course translates to insane security compared to your average middle class Joe in the Star Wars universe. Of course, it would still only be one really good ship, but against your average bounty hunter/smuggler, they would get slaughtered by said Hutt.
That means the kill would have to be up close and personal. Of course, if I was a Hutt, and a member of my clan was killed, and the security didn't die with his charge, I would put a bounty on the heads of those security members who failed to do their duties. It would be a great way of saying "Do your job, or the consequences will be bad."
That makes it harder to get close enough to kill the Hutt though, because if I was security, I wouldn't want a Hutt sponsored bounty on my head for either my incompetence, or my complicity in the Hutts death.
Aperamoose: if i was a hutt, i'd live with the ewoks

Lively Nightmare: I would live on a planet outside the Republic's watch, so it'd be a lot easier to smuggle shit around.

EdibleDragon: I'll go with Kalarba.
EdibleDragon: Mountainous with a Great Sea (complete with plenty of smugglers). Good technology level with two populated moons, including Hossk which is very technological

So it looks like our dear Hutt is on Kalarba, seeing as how Kalarba is on the Correlian run.

Also, I asked a few people I knew this question. These are the responses.Of course where does our friend the Hutt live?
