Here is the run down on the L96 and its counter parts.

Prior to the 1.2 patch the M24 was more accurate then the M95.
The M95 is the only sniper rifle that can penetrate cockpit glass
The M95 has a faster reload cycle then the M24.

After the 1.2 patch, these facts remain the same. However, both rifles got a significant enough boost in accuracy that the difference is negligable.

Right now the L96 has identical accurate to the M24 and the same reload time as the M95. This makes the L96 the primier infantry killer.

The M95 is just a tad less accurate (not been a problem for me) and is best suited for use against armored targets. It can shoot through armored glass. I've used it frequently to deal with chopper pilots, and it pisses them off to no end.

The L96 reloads one second faster than the M24. It's otherwise totally identical - damage, deviation, accuracy, everything. I mean, sure, I guess one second can matter if it really comes down to it, but it's a pretty silly distinction.

They can't make the unlocks so massively better then the standard weapons or less beginer players would leave the game in disgust. Small improvements are whats important. Something a skilled player can use to his advantage.

Oh, certainly, I agree with you. Though the MG36 and G36E would disagree. :P

The G36E kicks ass, but up close the AK101 and AK47 still have it beat.

The MG36 is wonderful, but the RPK is almost identical in accuracy while the M249 can kill people left and right in CQB.

Each weapon has advantages and disadvantages.

...And holy crap. I was reviewing the points I needed next after getting First Sergeant, the new officer ranks are absolutely ridiculous. For Sergeant Major, I need 30,000 additional points - 20,000 to 50,000. For Second Lieutenant, a mere 10,000: 50,000 to 60,000! Uhhh? And then 1st Lieutenant is only another 15,000, requireing a total of 75,000. This explains why I've seen Lieutenant Colonels in game recently, I suppose. Ugh!

They changed the ranks because they realized that only the most absurd players could ever reach the higher ranks. As it stands, it will take me a year of playing to reach the rank of LT. Thats a long fucking time. They lowered the ranks to give people a better chance.

And as it is, I haven't seen a single General yet. No one, not even the top players, has the required badges to make General.

Reduced points isn't so much my concern as the inconsistent points requirement. They should be going up, not down, as rank increases.

You need badges to make general? Yikes.

Except they can't do that. If they did that, the high ranks would be impossible to achieve by the normal players. Assuming each rank requires a doubling in points, that snowballs REAL fast.

Say it took you 4 months to get 20,000 points. That means in a single year you get 60,000 points. You catch the 20,000 rank and the 40,000. However your shy of the 80,000. You play 16 months and reach 80,000. Now you have another 16 months of gaming to reach the 160,000 rank point.

People going for rank will simply stop playing when they get to the point that its unrealistic to get higher rank.

Furthermore, in real life you don't take longer to reach each rank. You rise rank at a steady pace. Right now the ranks make sense. And you don't magicaly get the General ranks, you have to earn them with expert badges.

I never once suggested that doubling be required. All I am asking for is consistency. I needed 12,000, now I need 30,000, and then I should need something slightly more, say, 40,000.

At any rate, this game has not even been out for a year yet. If this is going to last, it needs a balanced rank progression. As it is, they're giving officer ranks out like candy.

Now they aren't. Most people don't play that often. Only those who play insane levels reach officer rank, or those who played a LOT since the game started.

For some of us who were late starting the game, its nice not to have to play half of forever to get the ranks.

Oh my fracking gods...

I just checked the Brigadier General requirements.

You need 1,410 hours of game play MINIMUM to get Brigadier General. Those are the minimum requirements to get the following badges.

Expert Armor Badge 400 hours
Expert Transport Badge 150 hours
Expert Helicopter Badge 400 hours
Expert Aviator Badge 300 hours
Expert Air Defense Badge 100 hours
Expert Ground Defense Badge 60 hours

Major General has the following added requirements.

Expert Knife Combat Badge
Expert Pistol Combat Badge
Expert Assault Combat Badge 100 hours
Expert Anti-tank Combat Badge 100 hours
Expert Sniper Combat Badge 100 hours
Expert Spec Ops Combat Badge 100 hours
Expert Support Combat Badge 100 hours
Expert Engineer Combat Badge 100 hours
Expert Medic Combat Badge 100 hours

Thats 2,110 hours of gameplay required to reach Major General.

Holy fracking shit thats a lot of time.

Sniper upgrade totally kicks ass. I've been playing Wake Island a lot lately and found a totally sweet spot as a sniper and have easily scored a dozen kills straight. If the USMC has capped the beach flag next to Chinese Airfield, you can lay in the shades by the palm trees to the south side of the airfield and look straight at the bunk next to the satelite dish. Easy kills.

I just had my first vote kick against me today. And I owe it all to sniping.

Was playing Fushe Pass. I picked up a M95 and decided to snipe the enemy helicopter pilots as they took off. After making half a dozen kills, one of my victims puts a vote to kick me because I am "spawn raping". For fucks sake. One guy with a sniper rifle can't spawn rape. All I did was shoot people in the choppers. Didn't fire a single shot at people on the ground or getting into vehicles.

Hehe, I know how that feels. Except that I using a tank on Warlord, sitting on the hill back toward the hotel, blasting anything that came out of the British spawn point. Some people just don't get the concept of "go around".
Artillery. Its what's for dinner.
