In the game, World of Warcraft, there exists a recorded movie file of a group of people in a place called Upper Blackrock Spire (UBRS). Their party is about to go into an area and they are talking about how they are going to tackle it, when one of their players comes back from AFK, goes "OK, let's do this! LEROOOOOOOOOOY JENKINS!" and charges into the room. Their party is a wipe and there is a large round of "Goddamn it, Leroy!"s all around.

It's funny, but I have no idea how it became such a phenomena.

It should be noted of course that while it's obvious that the Leeroy Jenkins thing is a set-up, the plan beforehand is almost as awful as what Leeroy did. It's the precisely wrong way to go about that sequence- it makes for great comedy
