through some sort of hyperdrive accident, r2 ends in 2199, earth, on the nechubenezzer of the matrix. enlisted by the honorable rebellion, who wins? r2, or the matrix?

R2 is the product of a technology at least 25000 years more advanced than the Matrix A.I. His processing speed may well be inexpressable to primitive savages like us.

I can imagine this.

R2 plugs into the Matrix, and is busy moving along a street in the Matrix when he meets up with a trio of agents. The agents see that R2 does not belong and opens fire, only to see the little droid dodge their bullets. Undaunted, they prepare for hand to hand combat, as R2 deploys his Ewock Zapper from Return of the Jedi. Then they have a king-fu match.

R2.... Kung-fu....
