Excellent! I saw one of those in my garage the other day, but I missed it. But we have big spiders there so I doubt it will live that long

The extreme bug-ugliness of the first picture clashes with the snowy beauty of the second.

I was thinking it looks like a mosquito-hawk. We have those down here...but upon closer examination, I suppose it could be one of those nukulur chernobyl-mosquitos, given Tranan's location...

Mosquito hawks aren't mosquitos, Mrs. Kendall. They eat mosquitos, which is why they are good.

I do not harm them. They are useful and keep down the populations of much more destructive and annoying pests. For the most part, these are jolly beasts in their little bouncing hops across the lawn.
"The rest of the poem plays upon that pun. On the contrary, says Catullus, although my verses are soft (molliculi ac parum pudici in line 8, reversing the play on words), they can arouse even limp old men. Should Furius and Aurelius have any remaining doubts about Catullus' virility, he offers to fuck them anally and orally to prove otherwise." - Catullus 16, Wikipedia

You speak the truth. I ended up with two hundred bites over one holiday in Queensland. On my feet.

And yes, I counted them. There was honestly nothing better to do.

If the pic's length is 24 mm, natural scale, and the mosquito takes up roughly 40% of that, then the mosquito is a little less than 1 cm (not counting the legs)...
