And that's just the distance; Kyp would need to pull it against not only Yavin's gravity, but the enormous pressure of the atmosphere of Yavin.
Didn't Kip simply manipulate the controls of the crusher making it fly to him?
If so it's an incredible range feat and decent multitasking feat (If not as good [range aside] as Luke's piloting a whole ship in COPL) but nowhere near as impressive as moving a ship out of a giant is.

I'd have to go back and check the book again, but that actually sounds more familiar.

But in the extract I posted above, Jacen clearly thinks that is nothing in comparsion to what he was doing to Shimerias elite guards.
I found that annoying. When he goes up against and kills no more than two or three Vong warriors to rescue Jacen in the 1st Dark Tide book, he gets so fatigued from his actions that Jacen almost has to carry him to their rescue shuttle. To make matters worse, once inside if I remember correctly he actually passes out from his fatigue.
Now compare that to his actions in TUF, where he basically takes on an entire Vong army and in the end the book states he wasn't even breathing hard. I really don't get that. Talk about inconsistincies.
Kyp did not actually TK lift the Sun Crusher from Yavin's core, IIRC, but he contemplated doing it (he at least believed he could, but whether or not that means anything is up for debate.) He instead manipulated the controls to bring the ship to him (which still requires some fricking huge accel on the part of hte Sun Crusher, since he could only have done that in at most a fwe minutes.)

Your getting confused here. He was perfectly fine after rescuing Jacen from the Vong in Dark Tide I, he didn't need to be carried anywhere. It was later when the Vong attacked Dantooine that he got overloaded. THAT was because he had to get a force grip on a frigen black hole and hold it in place against the Dorval Basial trying to move it, then push it around to suck up the Range that was generating it.
Luke can deflect AT-AT blaster fire with his lightsaber (Dark Empire)
Various illusions and telepathic tricks (Dark Empire, Crystal Star, Black Fleet Crisis)
Can completely fuck a computer over (Black Fleet crisis)
Crush Starships the size of Dreadnaughts with his mind (mentioned in the Hand of Thrawn duology)
Pull Combat feats that make the Old Republic Jedi and Darth Vader look wimpy (all over the place)
Move Small black holes around with his mind (early in the New Jedi Order)
The problem is, half the time, Luke is so laid back, he doesn't bother and tries to think his way out.
I know, what does Luke think he is, using his mind instead of his force powers all the time? Seriously, though, I much prefer a Luke who thinks his way through a situation, rather than going crazy-insane with force powers all over the place. Not that I don't enjoy some right ass-kicking now and again...

Indeed. He considered ripping appart some of the weapons batteries on the surface of the ship, until a vission of Palpitine and Exar Kun laughing at him. It was at this point Luke started to back away from using the Force as a sledgehammer, understanding with Mara's help that it cut him off from hearing the more subtile guidence.
Except of course when he absoloutly needed to draw on the power. At those points in places like TUF, he becomes (as Jacen put it) a self contained force storm, perfectly centered, the force controling him to the point that Jedi can't even see Luke as a person anymore.

So like how Anakin vaporized into the Force, but Luke is able to keep himself centered? Not bad for someone who used to bitch about going to Tosche Station.

Well yeah, but TK is very different from manipulating a living energy field that surrounds and is generated by all living things. TK is accomplished with the power of a person's mind. And yes, Luke would have to have great powers of concentration to influence the Force in the way he does (i.e. when he flew the MF in the Courtship of Leia). However, a Jedi would lose his abilities if cut off from the Force, such as in the prescence of Ysslarimi (yeah I know the spelling is wrong), however a person with TK wouldn't be affected.

unless said tk is force based, the Force is in everything not just living things, or did forget Yoda levitating Luke's X-Wing is ESB

I was under the impression that whenever a Jedi was referred to as using 'telekinesis', it simply meant they were manipulating external, physical objects by usage of the force. As far as I know, there are no true telekinetics in the Star Wars universe (with the possible exception of the Krok (sp?)), and few non Force-sensitive telepaths on top of that.

You just found all the words in what I was trying to say...thank you!!
And what, pray tell, would a 'true' telekinetic be? TK is nothing more than the production of motion in objects without physical means. Wether this is achieved via the Force, magic, psi powers, or what have you, it's still TK. Thus Jedi who achieve this via the Force are using TK.

I should have clarified. I was referring to beings that, by biological inherentance, could naturally manipulate objects with their minds/auras/what-have-you. The Force is not an evolutionary trait, and not present in all members of represtative species. You are correct, that by its true definition, the Force employs TK.
Noble Ire wrote:The Force is not an evolutionary trait, and not present in all members of represtative species.
The first part of that is debateable. First of all, evolutionary traits are *not* present in all members of a species unless everyone without it has died off. Since say, humans, are perfectly able to survive without the Force, there's no reason why everyone should have it.
Furthermore, there are numerous parts of evidence which can be interpreted to the contrary. Ysalamiri, anyone?
Guardsman Bass wrote:Curtis Saxton calculated that the rough distance between Yavin (in whose atmosphere the Sun Crusher was located) and Yavin 4 (from where Kyp was 'summoning' it) was 1.52 million km. And that's just the distance; Kyp would need to pull it against not only Yavin's gravity, but the enormous pressure of the atmosphere of Yavin. To be fair, he was boosted by Exar Kun (who while alive could use the force to obliterate multiple stars at once), but it is still an incredible feat. I don't know if Luke has done anything comparable to that.
WEG RPG rules also allows you to use the force on a wholly different planet. In theory, anywhere in the galaxy if you are good enough. Though TK is not covered by this as far as I recall. You could, however, move a capship with TK.

That is a possibility, I suppose. There are some species, like the Kiffar and Rakata, in which all bear, or once bore, some Force-senstivity. However, the true nature of Force dissemination is, as you say, debatable.
