Excession appears near Courscant
On its way back after annoying the Culture, the Excession takes a detour and drops in a few thousand KM away from Courscant. What, if anything, is left of the Empire in six months time?
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

That's what I'm wondering about. Is the Empire populated by enough intelligent individuals that no one will be stupid enough to take potshots at the Big Black Sphere?Admiral Valdemar wrote:If the Empire don't act like pricks and try and attack it for trespassing then it may just leave without any problem, maybe leaving a message or something.

Well...that pic isn't really indicative of what happened in Excession. You really should find a copy and read it, since it seems you have not done so yet.IG-88E wrote: So what happened to the Excession?
Here's what happened to it at the end of the novel: It decided the area was too 'hot', with all the stuff that was going on, so it went somewhere else until it was done. It was a sort of scout ship/dimensional bridge type thing.

Aha. I was wondering if it blew up the universe what happened to it? Just nitpicking, but thatnks for the answer.XaLEv wrote:Here's what happened to it at the end of the novel: It decided the area was too 'hot', with all the stuff that was going on, so it went somewhere else until it was done. Well, if it blew up the universe then it would be okay since really the way it would do such a thing was to create a sphere of ever growing gridfire around itself.IG-88E wrote:Aha. The Excession was in the process of blowing up the universe through a spherical wall of ever-expanding gridfire, but Sleeper Service sent it something that caused the Excession to cause the gridfire wave to draw back and disappear. After that, the Excession disappeared as well.
What's her bust size!?
It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!!!!!!

The gridfire was directed, not omnidirectional, as confirmed by other ships on the scene. The Sleeper merely feared that, if it was omnidirectional, it would destroy the universe.Shinova wrote:The Excession was in the process of blowing up the universe through a spherical wall of ever-expanding gridfire, but Sleeper Service sent it something that caused the Excession to cause the gridfire wave to draw back and disappear.
