To be fair, Leto II measured his dynasty in the milleniums whereas Paul's lasted about a decade and a half. Leto had a lot more time to kill a lot more people, which much less opposition as he was a lot more ruthless.

So he married his sister? (in name only to cement his succession and eliminate ANY claim to his throne): not like he was able to do anything sexual since he was transforming into a giant worm...

Q: If Paul was the approx equivalent of Vader, would his son be Palpatine?

In the David Lynch film we see Duncan kill one Sardukar (at least) then he leaps on a mass of other ones with his shield.

The slow dart then kills him.

I take that back... Jabba didn't actually appear onscreen until ROTJ (83) and God Emperor of Dune was written in '81.

I think the movie was terriable to Duncan Idaho. This was a man the book portrayed at an ultimate bad ass yet the movie portrayed him as kind of an over enthusiastic idiot. Now that i think about it the book was bad to him too only the Prelude books make him hard.
