Shadow Hearts: From the New World is out
And it kicks ass!
I'm only an hour and a half in so far I've got nothing but good things to say. The characters are thus far all rather distinctive, stand out from each other both on and off the battlefield.
It's also probably one of the most unique parties in RPG history as thus far my group includes..
Johnny Garland- 16 year old private detective from New York
FrankGoldfinger- Somewhat dimwitted American ninja.. who recieved his ninja training in South America.
Shania- How female Harmonixer who, unlike Yuri, doesn't seem to have mastered the art of keeping her clothes on while transforming.
Natan- Big scary looking native american.. who does GUN KATA!
Haven't seen any of the old shadow heart's characters though I'm fairly certain Johnny's butler is the big stupid henchman from Covenant, but all the old favorites from the battle system return. Judgement rings, combos, and to top it off they've added a whole bunch of new features like double actions and D-Combos to.

I tried playing through Covenant last summer, but I just wasn't really feeling it...I don't know if I still have the tenacity for Japanese RPGs.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I think Lenny's VA is the same as Jet from Cowboy Bebop.
Johnny sounds familiar too, but I can't place it.

The Magimel brothers from Covenant were "abiguously gay" now? There was a sidequest around collecting gay porn for Gerad for heaven's sake, not to mention the "consequences" of losing the Man Festival (getting gangbanged by The Great Gama and his Curry Pervs)! The Dark wrote:.....they've gone from the ambiguously gay duo to the flamingly gay duo.
But yeah, I certainly would agree they kicked it up a notch. Rainbow biker helmets and a store called "Just Us Guys"? Shameless.

Kickass.
Will play it around June, but the first two were fun games and I enjoyed the whole angles they took with dialogue, and the story was decent and fun.

OK, fine, they went from the ambiguously gay masseuse to the moderately gay doll fashion designers to the flamingly gay bikers .The Kernel wrote:The Magimel brothers from Covenant were "abiguously gay" now? I'm not a big Frank fan so far. He is the most powerful physical character (other than a Fused Shania), but I'm at a point where there are relatively few aerial enemies, so Ninja Star isn't useful, and his special attack power sucks.SylasGaunt wrote:Frank is just plain hilarious.. though Mao has managed to unseat Natan as my favorite character.
Mao, on the other hand.....good drunken kitty.
And GUN-FU rocks. Rapid Shot is just mean to two enemies.
I also find it amusing that Frank finds his weapons the same way as Joachim, while Johnny apparently has Anastasia's old camera, it is the same Lenny, one of the Magimel brothers has returned, and (minor spoiler) both of the Valentine brothers appear in sidequests.

Oh I hardly use frank as a character but I just love watching him in the cut-scenes.. like when he used his art of hiding to "conceal" himself from the caged demons down in the lab.
And while we're on the subject of Mao.. Hehehe.. plaid.

OK, now I'm starting to use Frank, since the level 2 spells suck up mucho MP. I'm debating whether to go with Johnny/Shania/Mao/Frank or Johnny/Shania/Mao/Ricardo as my main combat group. Natan just isn't doing it for me, and I don't like Hilda. She's darn powerful, but her VA drives me nuts.

So, Sylas, have you gotten to the Darth Maul point of the game yet?
