--Trogdor and I can't seem to get the diplomatic treaty stuff to work. He sent a treaty offer and I accepted it last turn (no sense in killing ourselves so soon). However, it didn't take effect. In addition, the RP suggests he hasn't even gotten the communication attached to that acceptance. Any ideas?
-What are the game rules on analyzing alien tech? I'm especially interested in what happens when one is analyzing different tech paradimes (i.e., an organic race analyzing magic tech, magic analyzing normal tech, etc.). What happens when one analyzes a ship with more than one tech. they don't know (e.g., cargo storage and propulsion).

Tech trading would work if you guys set up a technology trading hub. Basically gift each other a base at each end, and agree to research only one line of technology. Like Trogdor could research only weapons, and you could research only engines.
Then build ships with said technology and gift them to each other to analyze, one ship per level.
I've looked at the data files and organic, physical and magical races are completely isolated. So if you want to tech trade you'll need a willing partner, a lot of co-ordination outside of the game, and someone with the same paradigm.

In my book, since this is a competitive game, anything that the game mechanics allows is allowed. It's not like Neph made a rule beforehand. If people find a compatible partner, so be it.
I'm not gonna do it. The Somtaaw are loners . Plus it's too expensive and a pain in the ass to co-ordinate, and I don't trust any of you fuckers lol .

Trading ships costs co-ordination and money. It also gives you one technology at a time, one ship at a time. Technology trading allows for instant access while analysis takes turns. You have to make sure your ship gets to base, maintain an infrastructure, and co-ordinate off-game (because in-game diplomacy is too slow). Also it is highly limited in this modification because of racials.
So my view is it is okay if someone finds a willing partner... but I know it's annoying, so if everybody agrees not to do it I don't care. But I don't care if people do do it, I'm not doing it this game, too annoying.

Chill and have a cold one .
No enforcer's going to come beating down on your doors if you don't get the rules right. Well, when I checked the wrong box and put in the wrong numbers in my tax return last year I got a huge tax refund but ended up owing it all back a few months later. So I guess some people will beat down your doors. Not here though .
The Goddess is busy making the new ST game, she'll be back.

Well. Okay. What rules? Gifting technology openly is a bit cheap, but you'd need a damned close ally to do that, and it's inconvenient. Plus, who knows if they'll turn on you. Right now, I don't see an issue with it... as we're going to be at each other's throats all game. Though I may think it's lame and strongly discouraged, except in tiny amounts, due to the nature of paradigms and how there's like only one magic player.Nova Andromeda wrote:--Why is it I can't get a straight forward set of rules for anything today (not just SEIV)?
-Where's the Goddess at?!? I have a complaint to file with the universe and I probably won't even kneel!
Em. Everything else goes, I guess. Off-site communications are allowed, since the diplomacy thing is really unreliable and often drops messages.
If you're clearly beaten, being sore and ejecting your population into space is not allowed. That's just plain mean spirited. Accept a subjugation or protectorate treaty and try to build back up, since homeworlds are a big deal.

-Clearly the Goddess needs more servants.
-How is it you have a direct line?
-I'll take the cold one now....

I pay tribute. You'd be surprised what a few sacrificed lambs do in front of a stargate. I also know the address to punch into the DHD, that'll cost you.
Cold one costs too, pay first.
Anyway so this isn't a totally pointless post, looks like orbital fighters need a few levels of weapons research... my orbital fighters do 0 damage with default weapons!

-If there is one thing I've learned in multiplayer games it is that those who cooperate have a huge edge over those who don't. Backstabbing is always a worry, but one can minimize the risk. What can I say, I don't like being hostile unless I have a good reason ... or there's nothing else to do....
-Personally, I think it is going to take forever to get the tech levels high enough to even think about assulting a home planet. Then again I don't know a great deal about the Adamant mod.

Well just guessing, if you want to take down 50k phased shield points, and weapons do around 50 damage, it'll take around 30k kT to bring down a planet or 30 1000 kT ships... I would think that a fleet of 100-200 smaller ships could do it with planetary napalms.
