Litestep Windows Shell... does anyone use it?

Post by Nephtys »

I'm trying Litestep right now, which adds new features to a windows shell. Does anyone else here use it or know much? It's running kinda slow for me...

I experimented with it a couple of years back. After some tweaking and searching around for a good theme you could get it running all pretty but it was always slow and there were often problems getting it to work right.

Don't know if it's any better now.

I prefer BBlean. Less hassle overall.

I'm using the Insight skin for it at the moment, which is pretty (Vitreolus & Chronus are nice too).

I can't say I've noticed any speed issues, and my comp isn't especially great. The only downside for me is that you can't use the windows key to access stuff, it's mouse driven instead. RAM usage certainly hasn't gone up.

I've downloaded BBlean as well though, and I'll be trying that out at the weekend.

There are other options, you can get a range of visual styles which are mostly but not totally cosmetic (a few are MS approved, loads more can be used if you use the Neowin UXtheme patcher (At your own risk of course)).

What do you actually wanto to do that's different to the basic Windows interface?
My wife went to Vorbarr Sultana and all I got was this bloody shopping bag.
