PBW Advanced Research is selected by default. So they'll have to be at least one change.

It really would unbalance things. For sure if I was Romulans I would ditch the intel and pump all my points into aggressiveness and defensiveness and research to get those shield skippers out fast. If I was Ferengi I'd ditch the +20 percent trade bonus and make it -50% just because now I'm going with a far more aggressive playing style.

Dangit, I already tweaked the Breen (dropped some traits I didn't like, bought generic improvements). :(

EDIT: Brian, you just got post *1000* in this thread.

My complete lack of computer skills strikes again. How do I install the patch?

Post 1000? Cool :). Haven't been keeping track, is it really that many and how did you find out you been counting lol.

<edit>Oh, you meant the thread in total, not just me personally. Phew, thought I had 1k posts about SE:IV, now that would be scary.</edit>

Okay, if you want to preserve the old ST Mod. Copy and paste the ST Mod folder somewhere, then rename it to like "Neph ST Mod" and copy it back into the seiv folder. Then extract the patch into the seiv/neph ST Mod/ folder and everything should be ok.

How do I extract the patch, though? What program should I use to open it? Crud, I'm bad at this.

So what's the status on this game. I'm the only one left to upload my empire file, but there's only seven players.

Maybe we should just play a normal game with no RP and save the Empire for later when there's more interest, a seven turn game could churn really fast and if it's a small galaxy it would be finished in a month or two.

That may be an idea. If we go that route, I'll take Species...

Let's get this show on the road then!

What kind of settings... I like ten planets. Small galaxy. Good Planets, High Resources, high technology cost. Medium starting technology. Does everybody have PBW Research Trait turned off? I'll turn mine off and reupload.

Hell I've suggested ten planets every game and it's been refuse, give me my decaempire!.

Everyone make sure you have the PBW trait turned off, please. I don't want to have to restart on turn 2 when I notice someone has 200k research points, while everyone else has 40. :P

You'll probably end up starting over anyway because somebody will have forgotten something somewhere. Or have bad homeworlds. Or whatever. Oh and the ship and unit limit, we don't want a 100 ship limit :P.

I'll upload now and we can start! Whee!

Woah. Uh oh. Maybe I should restart. The cost for battlecruiser hull research is 875000...

Maybe 'low' research cost is in order. That was on Medium.

Maybe we should do high. Lol :P.

Low's good.

You'll be late :P.

Maybe we could start with medium tech and set research to high...

The game started before I saw the message about turning off Advanced Research and re-uploading, so mine is probably still on. However, I thought the idea was to do medium tech cost but keep Advanced Research on. That way, it doesn't take a month of Sundays to advance the tech, but it's also not ridiculously cheap to get the biggest ships and most powerful weapons almost immediately, a consequence of low tech cost that has plagued every game we've run. Starting at medium tech would also be good.

That sounds a lot better. So I'm gonna restart the game. Please get PBEM Research on...

Aww, you didn't have to do that Nephtys, you could have just uploaded a replacement turn over the old one like you do for manual execution... oh well now that it's deleted it'll take two or three days for everybody to reupload their empires.

<edit>Actually it's better that you deleted it so everybody gets the message and turns the PBW trait on :P nevermind.</edit>

<edit 2>Your link's password dependent :P</edit>
