New banning picture, redux

Post by Darth Wong »

OK, after looking at all of the feedback from the previous thread about my proposed new banning picture, I have made some tweaks. I modified the left-hand text to pop out more at the eyes, and I added a background of the forum, blurred so it will look like it's well behind the clonetrooper and give the picture a bit of a 3D effect. So let's start over, and let me know what you think of the New Banning Picture Mk2:

And here's one without the expletive tacked on:

Which one do you like?

That's excellent! I love the message board background. However, I'd do a happy medium and write "It's time for you to leave" all in one organized block and leave it at that, no insult. Maybe crop a bit of image off the right side too, there is mucho dead negative space there, though that's lessened by the background.

1. I love the background.
2. Keep the 'asshole'. I realize it's out of character for a clonetrooper but I think it's needed to get across the way SD.net feels about those people.

Indeed, the background with the forum main page it's great. Both are good, but I think the version with "asshole" works best... the comma after the first part of the text gives the adequate pause for the "asshole" final.

Excellent! Much better than the old one. I'd have to say I prefer the second one, slightly. There's no reason to add to what the clonetrooper says in the film. When do they get field-tested on their first troll?

The second, by a long shot. That's perfect.

I like 'em both, but I like #2 just slightly better. Can't wait to see them deployed.

I like the first one better. The background image is definitely a keeper, but breaking the sentence "It's time for you to leave" into "It's time for you ... to leave" seems to be a bit more melodramatic than necessary.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

I think

"It's time for you to

GET OUT"

would work best, but that's just me.

#1 works best for me as the only red text is "ASSHOLE". "TO LEAVE" just doesn't jive with me.

I like the first, myself. Of course, the other is good as well, although I'm not a big fan of the break between the two segements of the sentence.

I like the second. The first one with 'asshole' seems a bit lame. And not as threatening.

It sounds more like a blaster toting fascist to say "It's time for you... to leave." And the pic looks better.

#2.

EDIT: To expand on it, swearing and clone troopers looks wrong. And its not like someone who had gotten banned wouldn't have been hit by a barrage of insults before or while the ban hammer was coming down so that base is covered.

The second one. First off, when reading it, you can also see the clone-trooper just standing there with the gun pointing down, "It is time for you..." then raising the gun and pointing it straight at you, "...to leave!" For me, that's much more effective than the 'asshole' one.

Secondly, the first one actually calls the troll an 'asshole', thus identifying it. Sure, it may deserve it. But the second one, by not even giving it the name of 'asshole' shows that the troll isn't even important or relevant enough here to warrant having an identifier before it is unceremoniously booted out the door.

I like them both, but I prefer the second one. More stormtrooper-ish.

2 because a clone trooper would not bother with the "asshole"

exactly like I said a clone trooper would keep it simple, no wasted breath, it's counter productive.

I think the background is amazing - I was a big fan of Galvatron, but with that background I think we have a winner!

I also voted for number two, but I honestly have little preference between the two. Glad Motherfucker was dropped.
