need advice on new graphic card.

Post by dragon »

Ok I nned to replace my graphic card currently have Radeon 9800 Pro. While I have been looking at quite a few different one I am not sure what's better. I know PCI express is better but my system is unable to have one. What other highend graphics cards are there that are not PCI Express.

I initially started typing a suggestion for the 6800GT, a very nice card, however, checking prices I've noticed that they've skyrocketed wih the lowest at 259$, from XFX.

So I'll push in a suggestion for a 6600GT, its not a huge jump over a 9800Pro, but at 130$, its not that bad of a buy.

The 6800GS is a good buy as well; it's a bit more expensive than the 6600GT, but noticeably faster.

If you have the funds, you should seriously consider upgrading your whole machine (or at least enough to have PCIe). AGP is a dead end, and those AGP parts that are coming out at the high end are more expensive than the PCIe counterparts, but don't perform as well.

However, if you don't want to do that, but want the best AGP card available, try the 7800GS.
