Still I feel Daikatana is the king of the batch with only Duke Nukem able to topple it.

I stayed away from Daikatana for some reason. I don't really remember why, but I think it just never really interested me.
My problem with Fable is that it wasn't particularly substandard. The graphics were beautiful, the character design was awesome, and pretty much everything but the story was well above average. Overall it was a damned fine game IMO. But it wasn't at all the game that we were promised. And for some reason the fact that it was a pretty good game made it even worse.

Dropping the Stargate FPS in favor of an MMORPG is destined to become one of these.

What about the aborted UO sequels? I don't think Origen has any credibility left with anyone after that. Is there anyone who won't think "I give it a week until this gets cancelled" if another UO2 is announced?

Pool of Radiance:Ruins of Myth Drannor. Wouldn't install anywhere except the default directory, would empty the c: root on deinstall, and even when it finally worked as intended it STILL sucked. It needed fan hacks to make it even moderately tolerable.

You got that also? Thank God! I thought I was the only one.

And also that was the only game I have/had that I could not play with all/most of the settings maxed out. It just wouldn't load I had to play it on medium quality also otherwise it just wouldn't load no matter what.

How many times have they announced new UOs now?

2 or 3?

I remember UO2 which got canned right before beta. UOX which was announced went six months without any news then got canned. Was there a third one after that?

I haven't had any real problems with BF2 other than some of the menu screen lag like you were saying. I run it at pretty high settings as well.
I was dissapointed with BF Vietnam, but mainly because after a few months alot of people stopped playing it and we had only noobs and retards running around.

Just the 2. The honestly freaky part about it is that canning both of those was probably a good business move. They still have tons of people playing UO and buying the new expansions.

It's why I give it a more current one, but does not really compare to the grand stinkers....but does deseve to be listed.

I've played both and on both X-Box and PC...and really it was a fun game(Fable that is). What made it suck is how limited everything you do is, and you are right the promises were something akin to Morrowind on Crack. What we got was Morrowind neutered.

Daikatana for me topped it, and like I said...only Duke Nukem can really overcome because it was not just promised like Fable to be Morrowind on Crack, but literally a game you'll tell your children about as the revolution of all shooters in existence.

What we got was something that three geeks in their basement cranked out on shareware.

Bought both and TOEE was actually good in comparison to the 2nd pool of Radiance. TOEE was playable, although was way to expensive for what I got. I never was able to get Pool working decently.

That really *is* his actual name. His parents were oddball hippies, apparently, which has also influenced his games to some degree.

The guy ay local EB Games referred to it as Duke Nukem Take Forever. I remember watching a trailer for it on a friend's computer and saying "that looks pretty cool. I think I'll pick that up when it comes out." This was in 1998. And if that doesn't make you say WTF, this will.

I would definitely add Dungeon Lords to this list. Buggy as all hell when it came out, including some that prevented you from finishing the game, and missing features like automap. I was so fed up that by the time the fixes for these problems arrived, I didn't even consider retrying the game.

How bout the recent release of Driver 4: Parallel lines, man that game was shit and with a capital S. They took out director mode, made NY look lifeless and shitty and the cars are pathetic.

I'm shocked Enter the Matrix isnt on this list...

Did you all blank out that part of your memories or something? I understand extreme trauma can cause that.

Jesus lord that was a shitty (looking, playing, existing) game.

I got it and i was thinking, cool i get to play the movies and shit. WRONG. I get to play two people i see on screen for five fucking seconds and NOT as Neo which was what everyone who buys the game was probably expecting.

Crap all around. Bad gameplay, shitty graphics, the best part was literally the end credits with that cool Evenescence song.

And?

It still wasn't hyped to being the best game ever concieved. Which is much of the point of why many of these games are listed. It was essentially cashing in on hype of the Matrix films, just like so many shitty Star Wars games.

Hardly a blip on the fucking radar compared to some of the shit mentioned.

Superman 64 was one of the worst flops ever, but at least it wasn't hyped that much.
