Imperial Guard/White Dward Rules Question

Post by NecronLord »

Can anyone remember if the Imperial Guard High Command unit in White Dwarf 308 (306 US) that I can't find at the moment, replaces the command squad in a command platoon, or if it counts as a HQ choice on its own?

Ooo, sounds good.
I have never seen those new IG guys before, are they just Forge World or what?
Just out of interest, has anyone ever played a game with aircraft before?

It's a new Imperial Guard regiment line, along the lines of other metal figure sets like Steel Legion or Tallarn (which they seemed to have rereleased at normal metal boxset pricing this month, at least in the UK. US makes no mention of it).

Argh, Space-Motherland!
The Vostroyans are for the summer release "City of Death" several of the armies are getting some new or updated figs to go along with the book.

IG get the Vostroayns
Marines get new plastic scouts with sniper rifles
Eldar are getting new pathfinders
Nids are getting a special lictor plus a biovore
Ork, a new big mek plus a squad of komandos
Chaos gats a new lord in terminator armor, a new nurgle deamon prince, a squad of possesed marines, and Lucius the Eternal

Tau are not getting anything since they just had a new codex and several new figs released

Necrons and Dark Eldar are just SOL though

It'd be easier to figure out or find information on this Dark Eldar miniature if Bear communitated in clear, connected terms of what he did & did not know about its status. This is looking like a bad game of Twenty Questions.

So elsewise, I had been recently thinking of later additions to my Blood Angels-rules Marines beyond a planned Chaplain, a pair of tanks, and a Dreadnought, and I had debated over creating some Chapter characters of my own for adding variety and flexibility to my standard lists. One would be a Commander with a Jumppack, Terminator Honors, a pair of Lightning Claws, and an Adamantium Mantle (giving him 6 attacks of WS 5, 5 Strength, and 5 Initiative, with rerollable wounds) and the other would be a Black Rage Dreadnought (from the Flesh Tearers IA rules) in a drop pod. I figure they'd have potential as deep-striking assault units to wipe out small elite squads.

They'd both end up around the 170-point mark, the Commander would have weaker attacks and less toughness but faster and immune to Instant Death. I'd probably make the Commander first (or anyway) simply because of how little one Marine would cost me compared to a Furioso Dread.

Well, I just put up a few things for eBay auction, namely my custom-made terrain Tank Trap and Razor Wire pieces. I like the quality of work and paint I put into them but man, did they take a lot of hours to finish. From other scenery & terrain auctions I've watched mine should get bids, but I may just look for pieces I can make quickly (or really complex as to justify a high starting price).

Maybe I'll go for hills. I've seen several plain-green styrafoam hills go for $20 each on occasion. :P

I didn't think anyone needed to see new images of them (already got some on my site's news page), but if you're so hard up:

Tank Trap auction
Razorwire auction

Also I've at the very least my Hive Tyrant auction is being watched by 1 person. Man, I really need to sell this stuff to help pay off the rest of my army. :P

Dumb question: shouldn't you have put "Warhammer" 40K in the titles for the terrain pieces rather than "wargame" (or maybe "Warhammer 40K/Wargame")? Seems almost like kind of limiting yourself.

I've listed it under general wargaming and it shows up in title & description searches for warhammer. I figure anyone searching for terrain is going to use advanced searches for these sorts of items or just plug in 'wargame terrain' (which gets over 4 times as many results anyway).

What happened to those Tau army boxes they were selling a little while ago? I was saving up for one... kind of.

The large bundles sold out in the US a while ago, evidently. Their store only has the regular battleforce now, although it's for $90.

Speaking of Tau, I think It'd be fun to assemble an Auxiliary unit with more than just Human allies, like Demiurg, Tallerians, and whatnot.

Heh. If I go all the way with my Slanni army and come up with some way to make it playable, I'll give them the possibility of adding auxillery allies from any of the non-corrupted Old Ones-created races. Imagine an army that includes Eldar, Tau and IG with a handful of Orks. :D

The beardy armies, probably including ones who pick and chose specific allies or have access to other races' wargear (Iron Warriors Basilisks are a good example).

I think I'll paint my unmasked Death Company Marines with a lot of stubble on their faces, on that subject.

Gotta paint stubble on veterans. It's hardcore. ;)

Anyways, just finished a 2000 point Search & Destroy (smurfs vs. smurfs; no room to bring up my other armies and my friend took his home). It was surprisingly interesting unlike most SM/SM battles. The Terminators on both sides decided to be their usual selves and rolled ones against basic CC attacks and bolter wounds, but our normal Marines acquitted themselves well. My new (beardy) Reclusiam Squad and Chaplain performed well for their first mission, taking zero casualties and annihilating a Terminator Chaplain and six Terminators.
