I gotten the location of several shrines from random people I come across. I think it was a response to rumors, after I found the first one (Azure's, the location to which was a in a book in Cloud Top Fortress). Azure's star is basically my main "battery" for my enchanted weapons (since they longer recharge over time, which hopefully a mod will fix).
I've only found three, two of which I want to keep the rewards of, and one of which I need a Black Soulstone to get the quest from- how do you get one of those?

Stark, it's all about the timing. I went in, sanitized the cave, then came out and there was a guy there making a Black Soul Gem. Just toy with it. Also: Woo free Black Soul Gem, those things are awesome.

But that's SO FUCKING STUPID. Did you go straight there? I left the mission for a few days (maybe more than a week) due to it being in Cheydinhal. Did you find anything quest-related in the cave, or is it just a matter of finding the guy making the gem? Can you give me an idea of what sort of time you came out? I know the light shines all day, but I'd assumed whatever spooky stuff happened would be at night.

Apparently, the altars that make the Black soul gems can only be activated on a certain day of the week. You might have to wait up to six game days for it to be the right day.

No shit, that's what the giant pillar of light means. It's just really lame to have a mission based on 'camp by the fucking altar all day in case someone wanders by'. I've now stood nearby cloaked all day: nobody shows up. I've gone in and come out at every hour: nobody shows up. Stupid fucking quest.

They've almost successfully captured the MMO experience. Now all they need is a mission that takes twelve hours and doesn't give you any loot.

I've not been impressed by the mission scripting in Oblivion, KOTOR had greater flexibility and choice within them.

In my mind the life of crime is the redeeming factor. The psychic guards now do not bother me in the slightest, because even if they catch me in the act, I can usually escape, lay low, bribe the necessary parties and go back to my wacky hijinks.

Ironic that my paladin has spent more time in the clink than my assassin.

zomg that's awesome. Imperial City doesn't have any guilds so you end up having to bed down somewhere uncomfortable or pay perfectly good septims.

Ah, just checked, apprently I can drop items there and they will stay, however I can't bed, because while the house is abandoned, I'm 'tresspassing'. Zomg.

I'm reminded of the farmstead inhabited by the Sirens. After killing them, I was like, "Awesome! A western base of operations!" I went back there later and the cops had locked the place up tight because it was a crime scene.

Didn't happen here thankfully, as no guards were involved, but its annoying that the house isn't being offered up to auction and sold to the highest bidder..me. :P
Any chance of someone here modding that in?

Where are these altars located? I need a black soul geme to offer up to one of the Daedra.

Go join the Mage's Guild. :) Seriously, you see them in a few quests involving the Necromancers. Basically, you toss in a Grand Soul Gem, then Soul Trap the altar. Poof, Black Soul Gem.

When I get home, I'll load up my Mage and go find one so I can give directions. By the way, if it wasn't already clear, never touch Illusion if you want to be even remotely balanced. :)

Let you use Soul Trap on humans, at a Grand level.

What does that mean, exactly? Human souls get turned into grand souls, regardless of soul power?
Do not meddle in the affairs of insomniacs, for they are cranky and can do things to you while you sleep.

Normally one cannot trap the souls of people (as in men and mer), only critters like gobbos and bears and daedra, etc etc. Apparantly these would allow one to do so, with the same capacity of a normal Grand Soul Gem.

After much running about, espionage, and battling, I am now master of the Fighter's Guild. Too bad I slaughtered an entire village along the way, but I guess that's "collateral damage". I even took down the Blackwood Company and their source of power along the way.

Oh yeah...I'm a sadistic bastard. After you become the Arena Grand Champion, an "adoring fan" shows up and offers to follow you around and worship the ground you walk on. I decided to have some fun, so I said yes and led him to a cave where a bandit promptly killed him. I couldn't help myself.

Oh yeah, I think there might be an easy way to get some Black Soulstones. At The Mage's Guild in Cheydinhal a guy inside has two black soulstones stashed in his desk. His name is Falcar, IIRC. I'm not sure if the Gems are only there as part of a quest or not, but I suppose a good thief could find out.

Get the mod that adds Resident Evil-style guild boxes that share content across all guilds. They're fixed, never deleted, and everywhere. Better than leaving shit around and having it deleted.
