If X has affinity for a certain type of creature, creatures of that type cost less to play.

No, affinity is that if there are those creature types in play then the creature being cast costs 1 less to play for each of those creatures. There was a Mirroden Block T2 deck based around this with Arclite Ravages and Skullclamps to provide victory conditions. It was a rather scary deck at the time.

Possible effects:

Drool: -1/1- to all creatures in play

Adoration: +1/+2 to Isolder74

Suger Rush: Tap and destroy cake to add +1/+1 to all creatures on your side
