Some preliminary Chaos cards.

EDIT: fixed rarity, added Chaos Gate and Changer of the Ways.

And I need a nifty pic for the Powers of the Warp token card -- I included it because it was alluded to in the "It Matters Not Whence the Blood Flows card. (Hell, I need pics for about 2/3 of the Chaos cards...)

EDIT 2: On second thought, the Chaos Gate sucks. A better mechanic is needed.

Da Orks!!

This leaves me in a bit of a quandary as to which colour the Tyranids should be since Eldar = Blue, Tau = White, Chaos = Black. Of course the Orks should be red, rather than green, since in MtG the red colour is for discord and destruction. However it seems wrong to make the Tyranids green as opposed to red, which would make two races red and none green. Don't really know if that matters, though, but it is a mite annoying that no one is green.

Would you happen to have a Ghazaghkull Mag Uruk Thrakka card? And how would a Commissar Yarrick card relate to that?

I think chaos should be multicolor cards. Don't know why, but it strikes me as being more then just black. Especially chaos undivided.

I have yet to do special characters. I wanted to do the basic guys first.

Now that's odd, as I quite disagree... Black is typically associated with the demonic and suchlike, so that's definately Chaos through and through.

My idea was that the Imperium would be white and Chaos black, with sundry aliens in various other colours (Eldar blue, Dark Eldar black, Tau white, Orks red, Tyranids... err... something probably red).

Perhaps certain Imperial/Chaos special cards could be made in other colours.

Re: colors, as we all know the Imperium is hardly a bastion of angelic goodness, so perhaps many of their cards would be multicolored? E.g., Space Marines might be White/Black - they are the Angels of Death, after all. If it ever gets that far, specific Chapters might be even more particular; Salamanders White/Black/Green (they're humanitarian), Blood Angels White/Black/Red (they're psychotic vampires), and so on. Incidentally those also happen to be their Chapter colors - A CONSPIRACY?!?!

Tyranids should be green with some green/red and green/black cards.

Exodite eldar, primitive humans, and Gaunt's Ghosts should also have some green. Jokaero, Ambulls, and other nasty critters could also be green.

Well, Tyranids = green it is, then.

It seems that certain factions among the Imperium and Chaos will be multicolour, too: white and black are too monochrome for such large factions; they are much larger than any of the others, after all.

I had in fact planned to make the Exodites green/bluemulticolours, and the Kroot are already green/white multicolours, so it seems a bit off not to give the largest factions multicolours of their own.

Well, compared with the alternative...

. Besides, some of the White creatures in MtG were damned uncompromising and ruthless. White need not mean goody two-shoes.

That is from fourth edition Codex:Tyranids .

darth korte gets a cookie. Most of these quotes are from some Codex or White Dwarf or other or from one of the rulebooks. I might have to skim through Black Library eventually, though (a couple are homemade - see if you can guess which ones).

The Pics are from the Games Workshop website. My only regret is that there are not more of them in colour, since those look better on the cards. Alternative image sources always welcome, btw.

These are all very nicely done.

I would point out though that Genestealer Brood is way to powerful for its cost, even with Echo. Either toss a few more mana up there, or make it a rare.

I know that.

It was rather late when I caught that, but I'll be fixing it later.

EDIT: Made it uncommon, added one colourless mana and made it Infiltrate instead of First Strike (first strike damage dealt to it is dealt as normal damage instead).

Bet you thought I had forgotten about these guys, eh?

It should be noted that "detachment" refers to a "small" force, whereas "regiment" refers to a "large" one (and "attachment" refers to battlefield Support Units - at least those consisting of more than a few specialists or officers). Thus the armoured detachment isn't really paorticularly powerful, though it is cheap. Another stronger armoured regiment will make an appearance later.
