Would it ever be possible....

Post by OmegaGuy »

For a non - Force user to defeat a Jedi/Sith in a fair battle?

I'm talking about a normal human from the SW universe, using any SW technology that would be useful (but within reason, for example no starships, this is one - on - one combat).

Could a highly trained and heavily armed non - Force using human defeat a well - trained and powerful Jedi/Sith in one - on - one combat?

From what I hear, thanks to the power of wank, Jango Fett has killed multiple Jedi with his bare hands. :wanker:

Of course. So long as that human is armed with the right equipment and is prepared to fight his hardest.

Question, would you include Mandalorians into the same category as a 'normal' human?

With the proper equipment, yes. Sonic weapons like those used by the Geonosians seem a good choice - AFAIK, they cannot be blocked by a lightsabre. A sufficient volume of blaster fire can do the same, although you'd better be able to survive some of it being returned before the Jedi goes down. Personal energy shields would be a good investment here.

Of course, this isn't going to protect you against something like a Force choke or other direct Force attack. However, there really isn't any defense against such things for non-Force users, aside from striking first and keeping the Force-user too off-balance to do more than defend.

Of course, if MAD is sufficient, you could just bring along a thermal detonator or other such WMD and set it off as soon as the Jedi got close enough.

EDIT: Spelling.

Get a Ysalamiri to even the odds. Or fight in a room, that works like Force-cage.

Although he didn't defeat them, Boba Fett got Force-choked by two Dark Jedi in DE II and used his wrist-mounted rocketlauncher to kill several troops, make the Jedi take cover and escape. That's basically your best chance, hidden armament.

Bombing the Jedi with a star fighter or setting up a nuke in his vicinity is a good way to take him out. Fighting the Jedi alone is too dangerous. The Jedi can deflect most firearms SW humans can carry. Even rockets or grenades can be bounced back by a force push if Jedi Outcast is correct. The Jedi can also use mental powers to hide from normal humans or confuse them. So it is best to keep a distance and destroy the Jedi from afar with overwhelming firepower.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Yes, it would be a very difficult job, but with the correct equipment and skilled training Jedi can be killed, we all saw Jango shoot a Jedi on the balcony with Count Dooku and the other seperatists in Episode 2.

Use a projectile weapon that has a bullet thats wider than a lighsabre blade, when he goes to block it the bits of the bullet that didnt disintergrate will hit him. Unless he can force push it away however.
or
Use a blaster rifle that fires three shots in a triangle formation, a single bladed lighsabre can not block all three shots no matter how good the jedi is. (did Super Battle Droids have this ability?, they can in the Battlefront games)

General Greivous killed lots of jedi and he wasnt force enabled, he just had a really fast robot body.

Not really a good example as the Jedi in question was in the process of Jumping and confronting a Sith Lord. Surely, Darth Tyranus was doing more than just standing their.

Yes, it can be done, after all, I believe Mandalorians were said to be better than the average Jedi in combat, and it's important to remeber that Obi-Wan, Anakin, and the like are exceptionally powerful. Cortosis/Phrik armor is helpful, as is a shield generator, but it's not really necessary. You can't really ambush a Jedi unless they're already in combat (like the Jedi Jango killed in AotC), but using a high power, high RoF weapon is a good idea. A simple 'shotgun' type weapon will do the trick, but has the disadvantage of requiring you to get rather close. Sonic weapons are also good. The rocket launcher used by Magnaguards in BF2 seems custom made to kill jedi (homing fragmentary rockets, 6 round clip, rapid fire), which, come to think of it, it probably was. Sniper rifles seem to work as well, precog is apparently not infallible (at least they work in BF2).

In a pinch, anything of sufficient yield that you can just shoot in the general direction of the Jedi and kill him works, they haven't been wanked out to deflect HTL blasts... yet.

It's impossible, because the entire 501st were slaughtered when they entered the Jedi Temple and it was eventually down to only Anakin versus all of them.

Yes, it's possible. What the fuck are you thinking? For fuck's sake barring all the wanking of needing special weapons and armor that half the people spew, you fucking use your brain. Many people call it traps and preparation.

Use an Imperial Repeater rifle with heavy slugs that function like tracer rounds

Jedi blocks it, and blast himself with superheated steel

To be fair the Jedi in the temple and the Generals were taken off-guard by multiple opponents (and apparently given a hefty dose of the stupid virus as well).

The kid that Bail Organa saw get shot took out several 501st clones and only got blasted by sheer numbers. Not that I particularily like referring to that scene.

Wasn't Palpatine coulding the Force so the Jedi couldn't fight as well? I meant a Jedi with full access to the Force.

Apparently the Jedi's ability to use the Force was diminished according to Mace but it never seemed to manifest itself in terms of fighting ability.

Kill a Jedi

Post by GrandAdmiral »

I think that with the right equipment it wouldn't be that difficult. In TPM Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were unable to destroy the destroyer droids because of their force fields. If you could perfect a shield like that a Jedi would be unable to get you without putting his lightsaber inside the shield as Skywalker did in Survivor's Quest. And since you are a human not a droid you would be smart enough not to step on a lightsaber. You could also use some sort of weapon that would explode and rain lethal fragments on the Jedi. Unless he created a "force wall" he wouldn't be able to block them all. Even if he did create the wall, you could just haul out your blaster and kill him while he was concentrating on keeping it up. Or just shoot more and wear down his defenses. Of course, he could just force choke you so you would want to have a ysalamari with you.

A lightsaber sure wouldn’t be able to block a stream of airbursting grenades, or an automatic shotgun, and I kind of doubt Jedi overwhelmed by not very fast firing blasters could block an MG42 unloading on full automatic. Though given Star Wars armor, they could easily protect them self’s against those kind of threats if given warning.

Trained force users are superhuman and capable of many things that are impossible and even unthinkable to others. For all their power, they are however still quite mortal. They can make mistakes, and they have their limits.

But they can quickly repair mistakes, and it's easy to underestimate them. You need major advantages from start, and even then you either win quickly or you don't win at all.

It's also dangerous to think that there's a one way that will work all the time. The only singular method with reasonably repetitive capabilities I've seen is overwhelming firepower. Which still hinges on actually hitting your intended target and live long enough to do it.

Personally, I think hutning a jedi in a forest or jungle could work. Rig up traps. They won't work, of course, since they'll know they're about to be hit with one, but that split second of distraction is enough to put a .50 calibre bullet through their skull.

Jango fought Obi-Wan to a standstill in a fairly protracted battle. I think he could pretty easily take on a significantly lesser Jedi, even on equal terms.

Given that most Jedi apparently Suck At Fighting(tm), I don't see why this would be difficult. Sure, if they used all their powers all the time to the max it'd be pretty hard, but they don't.
