Mobile Phone text message sounds

Post by Ubiquitous »

I have recently purchased a new phone which allows custom sounds for when I have received a text message. I have been looking for some geeky noises to fill this current void. Presently I have a really crappy WOTW death horn sound, but I am sure there are people here who could provide me with better sounds. ;)

Sound needs to be a max. of 8 seconds long.

The Universal Telephone Ring, heard in virtually every television show made by Universal Studios in the 1970s and 80s.

Five seconds in length, although the primary ring stops at about three seconds.

Wouldn't that be more appropriate for an actual phone call?

I use the Murloc sound and the star trek comm beep from TOS oh and if my brother calls me his ring is the kilngon attack music from the motion picture
For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;

I use the Legend of Zelda "secret found" sound. I got a MIDI for it from VGMusic.com. Another possibility could be the "item found" sound.

Other game ideas I can think of are the Super Mario Bros "level clear" track, Metroid's game start effect, or the very start of battle or start of victory sounds in Final Fantasy.

For Star Wars, Darth Vader breathing or R2-D2 could be good.

For Babylon 5, I get the feeling a Kosh quote would be good, though the best I can think of right now is "And so it begins."
Later...

It's a shame that I can't find any SW or B5 sites that host mounds of .wav files ... I seem to remember a B5 site that had loads on ages ago, but I guess it just died of disuse. :(

Geeze, I totally forgot about the most obvious choice:

The incoming codec transmission sound from Metal Gear Solid. :)
