Slobba the Hutt Strikes Back

Post by Master of Ossus »

I've been going to DarkStar's website frequently, in an effort to debunk it, recently. While there, I noticed that Anderson had updates his site to reflect one Trekkie's work. Having recently read a thread regarding that particular [cough]scaling[/cough], I thought that the denizens of the board would like to read what Anderson had to say about it.

Thanks to the peculiarly-named "Slobba the Hutt" for the original scaled image from which my comparison above was made.
Apparently, Anderson and Slobba the Hutt are in cahoots! And the plot thickens!

Well. With a bit of q'n'd scaling, I find the torp to be ~70 cm wide. Using this guys scaling, Voyager is over 4,8 km long.

Really? I haven't actually bothered to go through it and find out. What are your calculations for a 5 kilometer Voyager?

Funny thing, Slobba is actually a warsie who is just trolling MSN. I ran a search once and it popped up as a nick used by a guy who ran a SW site. Could be a different guy I suppose, but it seems like an odd name so I doubt it.

I used GK's height for Voyager, and scaled it off another picture until I got a figure for the nav deflector of ~8,5 m heigh. The visible core of the torp is 4 pixels. He claims it to be 10 m. I have a 25% scaling error with this quick method, which means the torp is 50-70cm wide.

In other words, his figure is at least 14 times too large. Length of Voyager=343 m, his scaling= 4,8 km.

I should point out that I know virtually nothing of ST ships.

Which site? Who is this guy? Alert him that Anderson is shamelessly using his troll avatar's work to further his goals of stupidifying the Earth!

1) I don't think he would care
2) I couldn't find him if I wanted to. It doesn't pop up in searches anymore, making me think the guy changed his sig. What popped up was someones sig that said "< name starting with a J, don't recall the last name >, aka Slobba the Hutt, Webmaster of Jedi Council something or other". I just figured he was a total fuckwad, and wrote him off. I supposse I could try an indepth search, it would be something to add to your work.

I just cannot believe that a reasonable person would do anything that would remotely support DarkStar. I would personally be outraged to the point of writing threatening e-mail to Anderson if I found out he had taken something I had written under a troll-smurf account so seriously that he had used it in his work. Actually, come to think of it, I would think it hilarious and use it to mock Mr. Anderson, if he ever did something like that.

This is truly amusing.

Slobba, or whoever supplied the information to this page, came up with a diameter of 210m for that asteroid.

We know for a fact that they didn't vaporize that asteroid with one torpedo, since Tuvok had to shoot the fragments with phasers.

Consequently, this "Slobba the Hutt" character has labored to produce (using Mike's Asteroid Destruction Calculator)...

... a 43.7 kiloton warhead!

Oooh... great fear for the Empire.

I also like how he scaled the torpedo at 10m across, when we know for a fact (from having seen people sitting on them) that Federation torpedoes are less than a meter across and only a couple of meters long. This imbecile gets a 10m torpedo from the upper limit on glare.

What an example of how not to do an empirical study.

Would anyone here be interested in taking all the threads from here where DarkStar got his ass kicked and archive them on a web page? How about it, Darth Wong? I think that would be a fucking public service.

Especially where Darkstar unwittingly walked into 300MT light turbolasers. That was a thing of beauty.

The worst part of that was that when after I had explained the reasoning behind that to him, he then accused me of dishonesty when I pointed out that he had made that claim. His spy network was apparently able to find out that I had stated he had once claimed 300MT turbolasers, but was utterly incapable of digging up an archive of something that he himself participated in!

Exactly. Then, whenever he shows his face and starts blustering, all one has to do is post the link. Nothing else, just the link.

I have pointed it out to him 10 times allready that with his "scaling" a torpedo would be several times larger than a friggin shuttlecraft, he still insists that he is correct and continues to show the damn re-scaled pics of Voy and the asteroid in comparison with the torp glow.

Add a  to that, wasn't being serious (I hate writing at 4:15 am, I always forget to add winks to my jokes).

We should make it a BBS special: The Dumbest of RSA! He's said a lot of stupid stuff here, but it wasn't until he started that webiste of his that I began to realize he was a Graham Kennedy clone.

Don't bring the 10m torpedo topic to whoever runs that site with the lightbulb level TLs. He'll probably just use it to get an even larger estimate for the Sovereign.

Connor,

Exactly. Since the ST universe is crewed by giants, this only "proves" that ST can beat SW. :D

Slobba now does not try to claim that the torpedo would be larger than what it really is, he tries to claim that the glow is humongous and over 30 meters in width
