Temporary ban, with revocation of signature and avatar privileges, and an offensive custom title; and if he is ever brought before the Senate for bad behavior again, I will have no compunction voting for a permanent ban.

In that case, why not simply authorize any administrator to summarily ban him permanently for bad behavior? This could be an addition to the temporary banning and revocation of privileges.

This is a good suggestion.

I would like to move that the Senate, if it does not resolve to ban darthdavid permanently, attach to his punishment a statement to the effect that any administrator may summarily pemanently ban darthdavid at any point in the future if he should behave badly.

I think you guy's are over reacting, if I may. It was tasteless, tactless and badly done. That said, those calling for perm ban and even a couple for the temp ban, remind me of last years hesterics and demands for apologies over the Mess's deal.

Granted, DD's 'joke' was in way less taste than Rob's/Jeg's but damn. Smack him in the pee pee and move on. I tried to put this some what eloquently in the discussion thread, but reading through the responses here plus the actual vote......In my less than esteemed opinion, I think it's spiraling out of control for what it really was.

You wouldn't be seeing such willingness to string him up if he was actually somebody who was respected for his contributions and suffered a lapse in judgment, Knife. It's his history of being a worthless attention whore coming back to haunt him with a vengeance. It doesn't help his case that he has been told off in the past for being a spammy, emoting me-too.

Given that and the stunt he pulled, it's hardly comparable to the Mess prank last year. If DD gets off with a temp-ban and the other attached stuff, he can count himself lucky. I'd have gone for the temp-ban otherwise, but that'd just postpone the inevitable when he fucks up and because he went ahead with his idiocy despite having been told not to do it because it was a bad idea.

I'd also add that "Rob is a cook!" has a completely different dynamic to it than "I'm gonna kill myself!-- Ha! Ha!" especially after lining up something similar last year.

I know, but you have to factor in what the reaction is to. The reaction here is similar to what we got from some members for the Mess prank, but the actual action being responded to is far different.

The general response to the overblown reaction to the Mess prank, from both the staff and from a lot of the general population was "Goddamn, they had us fooled, but get over it, it wasn't that serious." It should also be noted that the most vociferous reaction to the Mess prank came mostly from people who are generally regarded (unanimously by the staff) as little more than useless whiners who throw tantrums when they don't get their way.

Contrast to this case where it was first discussed among the staff before being put to the Senate, and you have basically the cream of established board members wanting to basically string him up or at the most merciful flog him to within an inch of his virtual life and string him up without a trial the next time he so much as gives an evil eye to anybody.
