SW original draft vs. ST

Post by Seggybop »

The original version of ANH, before its revisions, against the various forces of ST. Do you think such a battle would end differently than the normal one?

I don't think they mean the Empire as we know it, the Knights of the Sith killed them all when they formed the New Empire.

Empire==Old Republic.

Yes, 'Starkiller's' rather scary, isn't it? =) 'The Bogan Force is upon us!' The further back you get, the closer you get to Kurosawa's 'The Hidden Fortress.'

'The Bogans' despair is strong!' And everyone ran around with lightsa-- er, ahem, 'lazerswords.' Snigger. :D

Diary of a Crazed Mimbanite had a good strip about the original draft scripts. I wonder what happened to DCM?

Stardestroyers are two-man spacecraft crammed with sophisticated electronic weaponry.

*weeps*

the dark Cos Dashit

Wow, that name would be so made fun of these days.

Bail Antilles, dressed in the distinctive gold and furs of the Galactic traders.

Was that Wedge's dad's name?

Imperial officer, and several stormtroopers

Well, at least they didn't change... much.

General Skywalker
Wait wasn't it StarKiller earlier in the script or was there a StarKiller and SkyWaker characters that were eventually combine/turned into a Kenobi.

General Luke Skywalker
Well I guess that settles that, although I thought he was going to be Luke Starkiller at first, probly went back to the old name after the begining of production or something.

He's 60? I think this was Kenobi.

Ok, I'm starting to feel glad this wasn't the script they used.

DAMN IT, I hit submit and then went back to the script and read this.

The Grande Mouff Tarkin wears the long, black robes of the Aquilaean religion.

Tarkin's a good guy.

Now, I've only read part of the early "Starkiller" draft, but I don't recall it being anything like "The Hidden Fortress."

I mean c'mon, Fortress was about two losers, a Samurai, and the tomboy Princess he's protecting, as they go off on a mission to save some lost gold after a war.

About the only real similarities I see with it and Star Wars are the main characters that would later go on to inspire Princess Leia, Obi-Wan, and the two droids (well, sorta) and maybe Vader (but it's a real stretch).

But, chalk it up as one among many influences. ; )

Bail Antillies was the captain of the Corellian Corvette from the movie of AHN. Lucas has an annoying habbit of creating names and back grounds even for minor characters.

Why is it annoying? Little details show how much thought/love/effort they've put into their story.

If Lucas is bad, the EU authors are worse...

Or maybe JRR Tolkien is worse...

Then again, I don't think planned for his notes to be published after his death, but then, maybe he did. ; )

Not bad for a first draft. I'm glad it was changed into the movie we
all know, as I think most people in this thread are.

This is not actually the first draft. The first draft was a synopsis of a story in which Starkiller and a Jedi Bendu something or other has to escort a princess and two bumbling diplomats across the galaxy to the princess' home planet while being pursued by the Empire, which wants the princess' cargo of spice.

No, I'm serious.

Starkiller?? Isn't that also the nickname of Bhurak, a Kilrathi ace from the first Wing Commander game??

I rather like this first draft. I'm only to scene 5 but so far i like it. Its not STARWARS, but it is good. It would make a good movie, seperate from Star Wars.

Ah, okay. =) I was really wondering where DCM is, the site has pretty much evaporated, courtesy of server movements. Don't know if he was going to put it back up or not.
