If you remember, the Witch King (leader of the Nazgul) was defeated only because Meriadoc was able to wound him with a Numenorean blade. Other blades would not have had that effect. Since they're more or less shadows of Sauron, and Narsil was as well a Numenorean sword, it stands to reason that it's more than a normal sword.
It's not a Numenorean sword. It was a sword made by Noldorin smiths, that alone makes it an impressive weapons. Comibned with the fact that it glowed (not the orc deteector glow but a glow) means it's got some serious mojo behind it.
I stand corrected on the Numenorean assumption. As for the glow, it wasn't called the Flame of the West for nothing :)

Hell, look at Orcrist, Glamdring and Sting. I'd call any of those just a wee more powerful than Excalibur. Unless Excalibur has hidden powers I don't know about?

Aragorn wins, for most of the reasons stated already.

Fuckit, I concede. This bullshit is why I try my hardest to avoid fantasy in debates.

Excalibur means that Arthur will always win. Someone wielding it in battle will meet eternally with victory. The only question, then, is whether or not Aragorn could mortally wound Arthur in the process of the fight. I think he could. He's probably a superior warrior.

This may seem silly but could Excalibur be Narsil passed down/rediscovered? But anyway, I would think it to be Aragorn who would win, he's been fighting for decades, against all types of foes.
