Equilibrium

Post by Sam Or I »

What did everyone think of this movie? I personally thought it was good, critics did not like it very much. It could have been better.... yes, it was based on a fairly cheesey plotline..... yes. It made me think though (which is what sci-fi is supposed to do), How is an emotionalless society work, how would they know how to act. Is this how VULCAN is on Star Trek? Isn't it usually the true believers who start wars (AKA the brain washed ones), vrs the free thinker.

Besides it had some cool action scenes, and an intresting new Martial Art (Which could a martial art like that really be developed, of course not to hollywood level, but an effective gun fighting art)..

The society should have had the damned drug in the food supplies, and had the injections as a device to identify potential traitors. Still, it was an awesome movie.

I love this movie. Critics say its shit compared to say.. matrix, that its full of plot holes (apparently marriage without emotion makes less sense then using humans as powersources instead of say.. anything else which a much higher energy density). I think equilibrium outclassed matrix on every point (plot, execution, fights/gun-kata, etc). Dont get me wrong, I like matrix, but not for the story or lack there of. atleast in equilibrium the main character had some internal conflict over whether he should continue to take prozium or not, whether he should join the resistance etc. Its a damn shame that critics have such influence that they can make people not see movies despite their notoriously shitty reviews (theyre like trekkies, if it aint what they like, its shit)

critics, ha. I saw the trailer online Friday, since the movie snuck up on me out of nowhere, and watched it Sunday. Critics are one of the lowest forms of parasite that exists on this planet.

I also don't think too highly of movie critics. :)

I don't believe many do.

Honestly heard good stuff from people I trust and so far bad things really only from critics...then again critics then to say anything that isn't 'their' version of high art is complete crap.
