Cristopher Lee sings

Post by Ford Prefect »

Anyway, a friend gave me a link to a video of Christopher Lee (Of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fame) singing with Italian metal band Rhapsody, and I felt the need to share it with you. He has a suprisingly rich voice, and I'm rather impressed by it.

I think I remember reading somewhere that he's a classically trained singer. When Rhapsody brought Lee in to record the narration for Symphony Of Enchanted Lands 2: The Dark Secret, rumor has it that Lee was dissapointed that the band asked him only to narrate, and not sing, which prompted the re-recording of The Magic Of The Wizard's Dream. And once again Rhapsody proves that they know OTT.

And they recorded it in four languages!
"For the first few weeks of rehearsal, we tend to sound like a really, really bad Rush tribute band." -Alex Lifeson

"See, we plan ahead, that way we don't do anything right now." - Valentine McKee

"Next time you're gonna be a bit higher!" -General from Birani

"A cynic is a man who, when he smells flowers, looks around for a coffin." - H. L. Mencken

Rhapsody kicks complete ass; Christopher Lee kicks complete ass as well. Together, they have MIGHTY POWER!!

I already knew this, but hadn't seen the video. Thanks! It's awesome! :D

A few quick searches show at least one opera singer in his family. I wonder if has ever done any opera? I only looked at the few moments of the video linked above, but he does have a rather stong, impressive voice.

His bio on his official site lists opera amongst his "hobbies".

Rhapsody definitely counts as a guilty pleasure for me - the music and sound is awesome, but the lyrics sometimes sound like 14 year olds playing D&D.

Oh, yes. They usually do. That's the only reason that I can't listen to them for very long at a time . Sometimes it drives me up a fucking wall.

Plus, and not to be an ass, but in, for instance, "Dragonland's Rivers" you get "see the deer, twolls and wouves, wuvwee kweeeeechurs~~~". I know English pronunciation, especially in song, is difficult... but damn!

Wow, too bad he doesn't sign with the Transiberian Orchestra this winter. I could go see him in person!

My big regret is the fact that we didn't get to see him singing in the role of Count Dooku.

I knew Christopher Lee had a wonderful voice, but to be able to sing, too...damn. He just passed Tony Jay on the list of awesomest voices ever.
