I'm looking - actually, someone else is looking, I'm just trying to help - for a freeware, msn-compatible, Mac OSX IM client with, if possible, these features :
* Display picture
* File transfers
* emoticon support (default MSN emoticons, everything else's a plus)
* Idiotproof installation, setup and use
So far I've found AdiumX and Fire, but obviously I can't try them out.
What should I recommend ?

That can depend on your machine and what version of Java. Right now, my system is running as fast as ever and I have Azureus running, Firefox, amaroK and Mercury Messenger, and it's only 300 megs or so of my 512 in RAM. When I get a mid-life upgrade for this PC, it should be absolutely negligible.Bounty wrote:Mercury is Java-based, right ? Isn't it a resource hog ?
