Recommended web-hosting?? Nothing fancy, just reliable.

Post by Azazal »

So does anyone have a good recommendation for a low cost web-hosting service? Did a quick web check, and I am finding quite a few sites out there, but the cynic in my finds their reviews a bit dubious. So I was hoping some of the better-versed denizens here could point me in the direction of a good reliable web-hosting site that can be used.

My wife does volunteer work for a local women's shelter, and they would like to be able to post some of their upcoming fundraising events on the net, allow people to download donation information, and have exposure beyond the local city limits as well. Funds are somewhat limited though; anything that is in the $5 to $10 a month range would be best. I’ll be setting up a pretty simple web page, most likely using FrontPage. And with my oh-so great skills in HTML, yeah right, a host that is easy to load into and has good customer service would be a big benefit.

Thanks.

1&1 hosting is supposed to be somewhat decent from everything I've heard, and they have relatively cheap hosting plans.

If you want something free I would go with Freewebs and just use it's web designer. It's decent and free unless you want a lot of other things (which isn't to expensive).

Geocities also works.

http://globat.com/ is what my fiancee uses. They run specials from time to time, which make them really cheap.

LibArc uses sitegrounds.com

for $60 a year, we get 20 gigs of space, 100 gigs a month of bandwidth, 10 mysql daabases, subdomains, etc etc.

breaks down to about $5 a month, and I've had little to no problems with them.

I use www.hostgator.com for my webhosting needs. They got fairly cheap standard hosting, and I love their reseller hosting packages. They're tech support is good too. I usually get a response within an hour.
