Covenant wrote:Neph had a good idea for the mod a ways back, make all the shipclasses rated as 'fighters' and carried via jumpships, but have the same KT loads as they do now. So to transfer anything to a new system you'd need to have it ferried via a big ship. That might be interesting for a low tech race's option, but I see it as over-encouraging the "Huge Ultra Mega Fleet" mentality.
That mod already exists. Look up the Highliner mod.

Hey, if I order a ship to be retrofitted and order it to move in the same turn, will it move before or after the new component's been repaired?

From the SE:IV FAQ looks like repair comes after movement so you're out of luck.
A) UNIT LAUNCHING, planets
B) TREATY CHANGES, TRADES
C) MOVEMENT, 30 days, combat at every 5tth day.
-MINELAYING
-MINE SWEEPING
-UNIT LAUNCHING, ships
-LOADING
-UNLOADING
-STELLAR MANIPULATION
-SHIP/FLEET EXPERIENCE, combat
D) INTEL
E) RESOURCE CONVERSION
F) RETROFIT/MOTHBALL
G) REPAIR
H) INCOME
I) MAINTENANCE
J) RESEARCH
K) PRODUCTION
L) SHIP/FLEET EXPERIENCE, facility

No biggie. I just want to know how quickly I can restore the jump gate. Thanks.

Presenting the Advanced Military Outpost, for a mere one hundred billion dollars.

Image

Now take a look at the upgrade. You can feel the difference.

And of course if you want to be number one,

Image

A thoroughly tested and well documented modification. No need to look in the data files at all to figure things out like how powerful breaching pods are since the actual strength isn't written in the description, no sirree.

Brian, if you're trying to say that this mod is half-arsed, I think Dalton beat you to it by about ten pages or so. :P

What the hell is that thing from? That is a terrifying beast of a facility. Doesn't kill anything but it's a really overpowered monster in most every other ways. Is that from B5?

Checking the data files (ugh) it does nothing.

Well it kind of looks like Mars. Kind of, as in I'd have to take off my 500 degree glasses or down a couple beers.

Yeah, you know, you sold him a massive but obsolete fleet, tried to enslave his people, etc.

What's a hardened structure anyway? Is it destroyed last or something?

From the data files, it gives five thousand shields.

That would actually be pretty good if the structure weren't so expensive. The only worlds you could build the things on in any reasonable amount of time are the big ones with big populations, and nobody's going to attack one of those without the fire power to knock out four thousand shields. After all, mass drivers do 1k damage per hit.

I have two of them from a while ago. THe fact that they give all my fleets ~20% efficiency and then give the same in fleet experience, whatever that does just seems too good to pass up if your fleet is sitting around it may as well be getting better.

Five thousand shields is nothing. One of Uranium's new railgun light cruisers (assuming he took my advice) could take down 3k hit points in one combat round.

Oh man, now all you need is the Malfadorian houses and...some other Malfadorian structure (I forget what) and you'll have the complete worthless set. :P

To be honest I don't know. I don't remember a peanut gallery, but if it's a security council meeting then I don't care if it is, I'll delete my last post haha.

Actually no need to delete, Marxis' transmission could be at the same time as Lyta makes her announcement and be totally unrelated. Another Marxis' lie like the VX gas hahaha.

It was intended to be for the council's ears only, though it's not inconcievable Marxis has a mole. Broadcasting a response would kinda let everyone know though. I guess it's up to Uranium but if it's not secure just assume the offer went straight to Earthdome.

Marxis has lots of moles, but after the last purging and Uraniun's "most highly paid intelligence force in the galaxy" and Black Watch, I think a lot of his moles got purged or are being fed bad information.

So I'm going with it being another Marxis lie and editing it to look that way. I can't imagine China having a mole in Rumsfeld's office or anything like that.

A well-timed Marxis lie but oh well haha.
