Who wants levels of Jesus

Post by Lusankya »

Now, last night, I was watching Princess Mononoke with my friends, and when we saw the Deer God walking on the water, I naturally said the first thing that came to mind. That being, "Oh, he must have levels of Jesus."

Well, one thing led to another, so I started making a prestige class. What do you think of it?

Jesus

Hit Die d4

Prerequisites:
Alignment: Any Good
Feats: Vow of non-violence
Skills: Craft (woodwork) 8 ranks, Diplomancy 8 ranks, Perform (oratory) 8 ranks
Special: Must believe is son of deity.

Only those truly chosen ever become Jesuses, and those that do often find their lives a constant trial after they take up the path. However, while they often bemoan this fact, they accept their fate with humility.

Introspective monks often find themselves drawn to become Jesuses, and bards and paladins are also likely Jesuses, although the latter may find it difficult to cast aside their warlike ways. Still, the most common class to become a Jesus is actually the Expert, due to the expert's greater connection with the common folk.

BAB: poor (as per wizard)
Saves: all good (as per monk)

Skills per level: 2+int

Class Skills: Craft (woodwork), Concentration, Diplomancy, Knowledge (religion), Perform (oratory), Profession (fisherman)

Weapon/Armour Proficiencies: A Jesus gains no new weapon or armour proficiencies.

Code: Select all

lvl Special Spells per day
                                                             1 2 3 4

1st Nimbus of Light, Water to wine 0*
          Cure disease 1/day
2nd Jesus Saves 0
3rd Resist Temptation +1, 1 0
          Walk on water
4th Cure disease 2/day, Evasion 1 0
5th Loaves and Fishes 2 1 0
6th Resist temptation +2 2 1 0
7th Cure disease 3/day, Mettle 3 2 1 0
8th The meek shall inherit the Earth 3 2 1 0
9th Resist Temptation +3 4 3 2 1
10th Resurrection/Zombie Jesus 4 3 2 1
         Improved Evasion,
         Cure disease 4/day

*Where a Jesus gets 0 spells of a particular level, he gets only bonus spells due to a high charisma.

Spells per day:

A Jesus casts spells spontaneously based on his charisma. He can cast any spell from the following list:

level 1: Cure Light Wounds/Light/Detect Evin/Protection from Evil/Purify water/Create Water
level 2: Cure Moderate Wounds/Create Food and Water/Circle of protectiobn from evil
level 3: Cure Serious Wounds/Leomund's tiny shack
level 4: Heal/Leomund's secure Shelter/Raise Dead

Nimbus of light: As a standard action, a Jesus can surround himself with a nimbus of light for ten minutes per class level per day. This nimbus of light provides a +2 bonus on charisma based checks when dealing with non-evil creatures.

Water to Wine: A Jesus can turn enough water into wine each day to please one party.

Cure disease: A level 1 Jesus can cure disease once per day as a spell like ability. The number of times per day he can do this increases every third level thereafter.

Jesus saves: A Jesus adds his charisma bonus (if positive) to all saving throws. This ability does not stack with the Paladin's divine grace.

Resist Temptation: At level 3, a Jesus gets a +1 bonus on all rolls vs fiends. This bonus incresese to +2 at level 6 and +3 at level 9.

Walk on Water: A Jesus of level 5 or higher can walk on water as though it were solid ground. If the water is rough, he gets movement penalties for travelling over rough terrain.

Evasion: At fourth level or higher, if a Jesus makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if a Jesus is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless Jesus does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Loaves and Fishes: If food is available, a Jesus may increase the amount of food once per day to feed everyone present.

Mettle: At seventh level or higher, if a Jesus makes a successful Fortitude or Will saving throw against a magical attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, he instead takes no damage.

The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth: At eighth level, a Jesus gets a bonus on Perform (oratory) checks equal to his class level when orating to the poor.

Improved Evasion: At tenth level, a Jesus's evasion ability improves. He still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks, but henceforth takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless Jesus does not gain the benefit of improved evasion.

Resurrection/Zombie Jesus: If a level 10 Jesus sacrifices his life for others, then three days later he will be resurrected as per the spell true resurrection. This ability only works once. If he is raised as a zombie during these three days, then he gains the zombie template, retains his Jesus levels and wis, int and cha scores and is not under the control of the one who raised him.

EDIT: I guess I should mention that this is for D&D, but it's probably obvious enough for you to figure that out yourselves.

I would change the "Loaves and Fishes" from "if food exists" - after all, food ALWAYS exists *somewhere* in a physical campaign - to "if any food is available".

At least it's not broken. I don't get people who create prestige classes with d12 hit dice wizards who can cast fireball as a free action and whose prerequisites are barely nothing.

Jesus could be more powerful, if he had more restrictive requirements. Like lawful good and two more skills.

Well, if he's like me he kills them slowly and painfully due to neglect. And why would I want Jesus to be even more powerful? It's not as though he went around parting the red sea or sending plagues upon populations or anything like that.

Ooh! There's a thought. The Moses PrC...

And the thought becomes reality:

Moses

hit dice: d4

Occasionally great leaders will rise from the lower classes and lead their people from oppression. Or something like that. Maybe they were just kicked out for being jerks. Who really knows?

Prerequisites:
Alignment: Any lawful
Feats: Leadership, Iron Will, Self-Sufficient
BAB: +7
Skills: Profession (bricklayer) 13 ranks

Skills: 2+int/level

Class skills: Bluff, Concentration, Craft, Diplomancy, Intimidation, Knowledge (Religion), Perform (oratory), Profession, Spellcraft, Survival

Favoured Fort and Will save

Average BAB

lvl Special

1st Snakestaff 1/day, Plague: God's Darkness

2nd Plague: Pestilence

3rd Plague: Locusts

4th Plague: Lice

5th Snakestaff 2/day, Plague: Blood

6th Plague: Boils

7th Part the Waves, Plague: Frogs

8th Plague: Wild Beasts

9th Plague: Fiery Hail

10th Snakestaff 3/day, Plague: Death of the Firsborns

Snakestaff (Sp): Once per day, a level 1 Moses can change an enemy's weapon into a venemous snake for one round/level. At level 5 this increases to twice a day, and at level 3 this increases to 3 times a day. Snakestaff can be negated by a sucessfull will save, DC 10 + class level + wisdom modifier.

The size of the snake depends on the size of the weapon.
A light weapon for a medium character becomes a tiny viper.
A one-handed weapon for a medium character becomes a small viper.
A two-handed weapon for a medium character becomes a medium viper.
For every size category above medium, increase the size category of the viper by 1.
For every size category smaller than medium, decrease the size category of the viper by 1.

Plagues (Sp): Each level, a moses gains a new plague which he can inflict upon his enemies as a standard action. When he first gains a plague he can use it once per day, but each time he gains a new plague then he can use all previously gained plagues one more time each day. The DC for saves vs plagues is equal to 10 + the Moses's class level when the plague is gained + wis modifier.

Plagues

God's Darkness: As per the spell 'deeper darkness', except it does not affect you or your allies.

Pestilence: One target must make a fortitude save or contract a disease as per the spell 'contagion', except the target does not need to be touched.

Locusts: A swarm of locusts is summoned to attack the Moses's enemies. This works as per the spell "Summon Swarm", except the locusts' damage is treated as though from a magical weapon.

Lice: One target must make a fortitude save or be attacked by lice. For 2d4 rounds, they can do nothing but scratch viciously at the lice. They can take no actions but are not considered helpless.

Blood: All the water in the bodies of enemies within 60 ft turns to blood, dealing 1d6 points of damage/level. Fortitude save for half damage.

Boils: Enemies in a 60-foot burst centred on the Moses are covered withtake 1d8 points of damage +1 per level.

Frogs: 1 enemy/2 levels must make a fortitude save of be turned into a frog as per the spell baleful polymorph, except the length of time before it makes its will save or lose all memories of its previous form is increased to seven days.

Wild Beasts: As per the spell Summon Nature's Ally IX.

Fiery Hail: An shower of fire and ice rains down upon an area as per the spell Meteor Swarm, except half the damage is cold damage.

Death of the Firstborns: all enemies with less than 4HD within 100 ft of the Moses are killed instantly.

Part the Waves (Sp): Once per week, a level 7 moses can clear a path through a body of water which closes after he and his allies have passed through it.

I'm not sure how good this one is. Seeing as I have no plans to actually play a Moses, I'd like it to be balanced, but I've no idea how well I succeeded.

Considering all the followers Jesus and Moses had, perhaps you should make the Leadership feat mandatory to join the class, or give it out as a bonus feat.

Shouldn't Jesus have Raise Dead available as a spell? He did that at least once in the Bible, didn't he?

He did twice; Once with Lazarus (John 11), and once with a young girl (Matthew 9, Luke 8, and Mark 5).

BTW i'm an Idiot....

The main character in The Ramayana IS Prince Rama.

so lets see high levels in archery, and meditation, sneakyness, ability to have Haunahan (a character that's like a weaker version of Wukong), and a Rakasha Prince working for him....

abilty to set monkey's tails on fire...
ability to survive daemon kingdoms with fully poisonous atmosphere and food.

He gets it at level 4. Then Mettle at level 7 and Improved Evasion at level 10.

And Yosemite... I know nothing about Ramayana.... sorry.

So, do people think the Moses is balanced?

ok hindu prince's wife gets kidnapped by the king of the Rakasha Demons. The prince becomes the biggest bad ass with a bow since odyssus, (also the prince in question is freaking crafty like odyssus), basically The prince along with the King of the Rakasha's brother, and a monkey god go into the kingdom of the daemons and kick all kinds of ass.
